Mr. Xie Hongmin, nearly 30, had nasal cancer in middle school and later it spread to his lymph node system. His family spent all their money for his treatment but had no success. In 1996 he bought a copy of China Falun Gong in a bookstore. He started to study and practise Falun Gong. Soon he was cured. His temper also improved from irritable to calm. His story had a big impact among the local people.

A traditional Chinese saying goes, "Receive the favour of a drop of water and repay it with a gushing spring." How about the favour of saving a life? After July 20th, 1999, Mr. Xie went to Beijing to appeal for Dafa and hoped the state leaders would stop persecuting Falun Gong. He was arrested in Beijing and sent back to Chengdu City. He was first detained in Chengdu Drug Rehabilitation Centre. Then he was sent to Dayan Forced Labour Camp in Ziyang City for one year of forced labour. After his release, he was kept under surveillance by his local hometown government. He had to leave his hometown and found some temporary jobs in Chengdu City and Yunnan Province. "Dafa saved me" he said. He was arrested for leaflets exposing the persecution. He was sentenced to four years of forced labour and sent to Guangyuan Forced Labour Camp in Sichuan Province.

On November 6th, 2006, his forced labour term expired. He was supposed to be released and sent home. However, when his parents enquired into his situation, they found that the head of the village Bai Lanzhong and others had picked up their son at the labour camp and taken him to Xinjing Brainwashing Centre in Chengdu City.
