On January 20th, 2007, despite the freezing weather, volunteers from the Finnish Centre for Quitting the CCP, the Epoch Times and Falun Gong practitioners went to Kouvola a city in southeast Finland. In the promenade in the city centre, they displayed banners on which was written (in both Chinese and Finnish) ‘The Nine Commentaries Triggers A Huge Wave of Withdrawals from the Communist Party’ and ‘Support 17 Million Chinese Withdrawing from the Communist Party’. They also displayed photos depicting the tyranny of the CCP and its ruthless killing of Chinese people and the genocide of Falun Gong practitioners who believe in ‘Truthfulness, Compassion and Tolerance’.
The volunteers and Falun Gong practitioners distributed leaflets exposing the CCP's crimes, its cruel persecution of Falun Gong and the atrocity of killing practitioners for their organs. After reading the leaflets and the posters displayed, some people requested more information and they said, ‘Thank you and well done’ to practitioners. Some asked if they could do anything to help. Many others signed the petition to support practitioners.
Just the day before this event, a Chinese Falun Gong practitioner got news that her mother was arrested again by police in her home town in northeast China and her home was searched. This practitioner told herself that she should be strong and try to tell the Finnish people that her mother an ordinary Falun Gong practitioner who just want to be a good person following the principles of ‘Truthfulness, Compassion and Tolerance’, was abducted by the Chinese authorities again after one year’s forced labour. This brutal persecution is happening everyday to many Falun Gong practitioners in China. The only way to bring the persecution and atrocities to an end is to expose the CCP's crimes. She told people about her mother’s experience while distributing leaflets. A man suggested that she should write down her mother’s story and send it to parliament, the media, police and the international community, tell them this kind of thing is happening in China. A lady asked if practitioners accepted donations. Some primary school students said they could understand the police arresting bad people but why do the Chinese police arrest good people?
