I am a Falun Dafa practitioner from Zhaogezhuang Town, Laishui County in Hebei Province. This year I am 69 years old. Before I started practising Falun Dafa, I had a very serious illness. The sickness had made me physically and mentally exhausted. An expression of pain was always on my face, and it made people uncomfortable when they saw me. I spent all my money on medication for my wife and myself. In 1996, I was so happy to find Dafa. After beginning cultivation, I was almost reborn, turning into another person. I started to understand the real meaning of life without illness. My wife is illiterate. Every time I read from a Falun Dafa book she would sit by me and listen. As a result she also stopped taking the medicine that she had been on for more than ten years. She became a person without illness, felt very comfortable physically, and is now busy all day long. Her sad face was a thing of the past and our children were all very happy to see the changes in us. This family started to have a very happy future at that time.

On July 20th, 1999, the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) started to persecute Dafa. The Party fabricated stories and spread them around. My daughter said, "No matter who says Dafa is not good, I won't believe it. My parents' good health is the best evidence. It is Dafa that brought happiness to this family. Falun Dafa is great. Falun Dafa is magical."

Falun Dafa is so good, yet its practitioners are now suffering this insane persecution, a persecution that has also targeted me, a man more than 60 years old who lives in a remote area away from the village.

On the afternoon of April 23rd, 2002, officers from the Longmen County Government Office and the Longmen Police Department intruded on my house. They said that the number of Dafa practitioners at home in the village was not high enough, so they came to my house and started to confiscate things. The officers pulled me outside and handcuffed me to the car. They broke into my big cupboard and stole about sixteen hundred yuan1 in cash that I had saved penny by penny. That was several years' income for me and my wife. Finally there was really nothing left that the officers could take, so they climbed the Chinese toon tree in the yard and picked all the sprouts off the tree. My house was completely ransacked. I was taken to the Longmen County Government Office and severely beaten. Several officers surrounded me and hit me brutally. My nose was broken and it, along with my mouth, kept bleeding. My face was bruised, and I was in awful pain.

At around 11:00 p.m. on the night of October 2nd, 2002, the authorities from Zhaogezhuang Town and the police department climbed over the wall into my yard. Because the door wasn't locked, they directly entered my house. Without any explanation, they arrested me and took me to the Laishui County Detention Centre. Because of my advanced age and because I was forbidden to practise the exercises at the centre, after being detained for a month, my former illnesses returned, and these health conditions became life-threatening. The guards told my son to pay them three thousand yuan as they would not release me without money. My son had no way to gather this large amount of money, so he was very worried. Several days later, my health took a turn for the worse. The authorities were afraid that I might die in the detention centre, so they let my two sons pay only sixteen hundred yuan, which they had to borrow from many people. This caused me to carry a big debt.

At around 10:00 a.m. on April 9th, 2003, while I was resting, officers once again broke into my house. They saw I was lying on my bed. They pulled me outside, pushed me into a car, and took me to the Zhaogezhuang County Government Office, where they detained me. Five days later, I was fined one thousand yuan for my release.

On the night of July 28th, 2005, at around 9:30 p.m., the political and law secretary of Zhaogezhuang County, Li Yin, and the deputy head of the town, Feng Xi, along with more than ten others, drove to my home in two cars and broke in. This time they searched my house for a long time, investigating everything, including TVs, VCDs, recorders, Dafa books, lecture CDs, etc. Anything worth any money was looted. The Dafa poster on the wall was also scraped off, and my entire house was ransacked.

One month later, my son-in-law (a practitioner) was arrested, and on October 28th, 2005, at around 9:00 p.m., officers from Zhaogezhaung County intruded into my house again. After climbing over the outside wall and prying open the window, they entered my house. My wife was so shocked she did not dare to move. The officers did not see anyone or anything worth taking. In the end, they only took a recorder. In the past eight years, I have been repeatedly robbed by the local officers. The amount of loss I have incurred has reached seven or eight thousand yuan. There is almost nothing left in my house, which makes normal life difficult. This is a heavy debt to bear for an elderly man.
