1. Ms. Zhang Guifen lived in the Guta District, Jinzhou City, Liaoning Province. She started cultivating Falun Dafa in 1996, and she firmly kept her faith after the persecution began in July 1999. In September 1999, she was arrested by police officers Bai Fengqi and Leng Xiaoyan from the Raoyang Station, and was detained for 15 days. Around October 20th, 1999, she was detained again for going to Beijing to appeal for justice for Falun Dafa. She was detained in the Jinzhou City Detention Centre for 30 days, then forced to go through brainwashing in the Guta District Brainwashing Centre.
Ms. Zhang was tortured for one month in the brainwashing centre and had more than one thousand yuan1 extorted from her. She was constantly harassed and threatened for the next several years, which damaged her mental and physical health. Ms. Zhang died on September 14th, 2003; she was only 52 years old.

2. Ms. Zhang Fengyun, 65, lived in Jinzhou City, Liaoning Province. She started cultivating Falun Dafa in October 1996. Ms. Zhang used to have arthritis, heart disease, hepatomegaly, and other physical problems. Due to financial difficulties, she could not afford to see doctors, and she suffered excruciating pain. Ever since she started cultivating Falun Dafa, all her sicknesses disappeared, and she was without any ailments.
After July 20th, 1999, when the persecution began, Ms. Zhang went to Beijing to appeal and speak out for Falun Dafa,. She was arrested when unfurling a banner on Tiananmen Square. She was detained in the Seventh Branch of Beijing Police Department for four months. After being taken back to Jinzhou City by police officers from the Bao'an Station, Ms. Zhang was detained for another 15 days in the Jinzhou City Detention Centre.
Ms. Zhang was deeply hurt when her son, also a practitioner, was sentenced to forced labour and detained in the Jinzhou City Labour Camp. The local policemen from Bao'an Station kept harassing her and threatening her at home. Ms. Zhang could not bear the terror tactics and missed her son terribly. She died on January 28th, 2006.
