The Coalition to Investigate the Persecution of Falun Gong (CIPFG) is collecting evidence of organ harvesting atrocities and other aspects of the persecution of Falun Gong in China. Here are some recent leads that have come to light.

Investigation Lead: Wang Yu, the Director of the Medical and Administrative Department of the Health Ministry Disclosed a Huge Number of Organ Transplants

On August 18th, 2007, a Chinese Communist Party government official disclosed part of the inside story of the Party's practise of harvesting organs from prisoners. Wang Yu, the Director of the Medical and Administrative Department of the Health Ministry reported, "As of today, the Health Ministry has approved 164 hospitals in China to perform organ transplants. Every year, over 3000 liver transplant operations were conducted. By the end of June 2007, 14,613 cases were completed." It is said that in China there are two organ-transplant registering systems. One system began in 2001, when there were 30 participating hospitals. It has grown and there is a database of over twenty thousand kidney patients. The other system is the China Liver Transplant Registration System. Currently it is conducting over three thousand operations each year. Detailed reports are apparently available.

Investigation Lead: Frequent Medical Examinations At Jiamusi Forced Labour Camp Raise Suspicion That It Participates in Organ-Harvesting

In 2001, I returned home after two years of illegal forced labour in Jiamusi Forced Labour Camp for my practising of Falun Gong. Within a month, the police came to my home and coerced me into following them. As a result, I was sentenced to two additional years at Jiamusi Labour Camp without any legal reason. The only reason for my arrest was that they 'Didn't feel at ease with me at home'.

Jiamusi Forced Labour Camp has and still is using all kind of means to torture Falun Gong practitioners. In June 2002, the guards and collaborating prisoners broke into each cell, dragging each practitioner out one by one to stand on the square. Several minutes later, a lady over 50 years old was handcuffed and dragged out by the police. We were sure she practised Falun Gong, but we did not know her name. She was from out of town. Then several guards said: "This person is going to be transferred from the forced labour camp and be sentenced." We did not know where she was taken.

Before this happened, the labour camp officials regularly made us undergo strict physical examinations. Looking back, Jiamusi Forced Labour Camp has probably participated in the illegal organ-harvesting for transplant scheme. At that time we did not know that the Chinese Communist Party was committing organ-harvesting crimes.

Investigation Lead: Tangshan City Optical Hospital Participated in Cornea Transplants

I lived in Tangshan City of Hebei Province in China where I worked as a doctor. A friend once consulted me about her father, who lived in Guangxi Province and suffered from keratitis. He ended up with a cornea ulcer and was left blind in one eye. She asked me what could be done and so I said I would ask the eye doctor in our hospital.

The eye doctor told me, "Only by doing a cornea transplant can the eyesight be recovered. Tangshan Eye Hospital can do this kind of operation." I said, "Where can we find the corneas? No one is willing to donate them." The eye doctor said, "Well, there are plenty of executed prisoners in the jails." (This suggests that Tangshan City Eye Hospital often does cornea transplants. One cornea transplant costs about five to six thousand yuan.) When I told my friend what the eye doctor had told me, she said she had heard that her hometown in Guangxi Province also does such transplants, and that one cornea costs several thousand yuan.

The notorious Jidong Jail is in Tangshan City, along with two forced labour camps. They are very close to Beijing, about an hour on the highway. When the eye doctor said that executed prisoners provided the corneas for transplants, it is hardly likely that the executed prisoners volunteered their corneas. The executed prisoners should not have been exploited by the Communist hospitals. It is clear that the Tangshan Eye Hospital participated in this ghoulish crime.

Investigation Lead: "Today in China, Twenty-six Hospitals Jointly Established the Liver Transplant Database. There Are over Ten Thousand Cases of Liver Transplants"

The Shanghai channels on Xinhua Net reported that from March of 2005 to May of 2007, over 10,000 people received liver transplants in China. Among them, 9,610 of the cases have their complete information in the China Liver Transplant Registration System. The reporter learnt from the "Liver Disease and Transplant Forum 2007" at Renji Hospital in Shanghai, that in China nationwide, 26 hospitals approved to do liver transplants established a central database. On August 14th, 2007, the Youth Daily A1.16 also had a report (reported by Zhang Caiping) entitled "The Survival Percentage of Liver Transplant Operations Increases to 81%."

The Chinese Communist Party is happy to allow this huge number of liver transplants, but never explains the origin of the livers.
