Police from the Dongyuan Police Station in Shijiazhuang, Hebei Province, put practitioner Ms. Liang Yening and her mother under house arrest for over three days. According to the police, the order came from the Shijiazhuang National Security Brigade to the Yuhua District Public Safety Bureau for the Dongyuan Police Station to execute the order.
On the morning of September 19th, 2007, the police stopped Ms. Liang and her child at a restaurant and demanded that she go to the Yuhua Public Safety Bureau. However, Ms. Liang asked to take breakfast home for her paralysed mother and when she got home, she locked the front door. The police mobilised about eight people and stationed them in front of Ms. Liang's house. They banged on the door and shouted at Ms. Liang and her family. Her ten-year-old son was scared and wouldn't stop crying so Ms. Liang's father sneaked the child away and left him with a relative. When Ms. Liang's father got home, the police refused to let him enter the house. Ms. Liang's mother has been paralysed in bed because of a stroke for many years and the friends and relatives of Ms. Liang worry whether her mother can take the shock. Her father told the police that what they were doing would cost someone's life. The police said they were just following orders and they would keep doing it unless Ms. Liang goes to the bureau.
By September 21st, there were still several people hired by the police waiting in the building where Ms. Liang lives. About a dozen police officers took turns waiting in front of Ms. Liang's front door 24 hours a day, and they drove away anyone who came to enquire about Ms. Liang and her family's situation. Also, no one knows what has happened to Ms. Liang and her mother.
Prior to this harassment, the Dongyuan Police Station and Residential Committee had harassed Ms. Liang many times. In October 1999, the authorities arrested Ms. Liang and imprisoned her for five years. During this time, she was tortured physically and mentally. The guards tried to brainwash her around the clock and as a result, her family suffered numerous ordeals. Her son, who was two years old at the time, didn't have anyone to take care of him and the health of Ms. Liang's mother deteriorated, causing her to be paralysed and bedridden. The harassment traumatised Ms. Liang's son, which caused him suffering and pain that a small child shouldn't have to bear.
Tragedies such as this happen every day because of the Chinese government's persecution of Falun Gong. This family was torn apart by the Chinese Communist Party and it has caused people to suffer needlessly. We would like to ask the international community to pay the greatest amount of attention to human rights in China.
