Chen Yujiang is detained at the Xinjiang No. 5 Jail and has developed tuberculosis of the lungs since his imprisonment. His life is in danger.

Chen Yujiang, 27 years old, is a salesperson for the Urumchi Company. Since July 20th, 1999 Chen has used various means to inform people about the true nature of Falun Gong and dispel communist party propaganda about Falun Gong. Once, when he was posting banners he was arrested and sent to a detention centre. On December 1st, 2004 he was sent to Xinjiang No. 5 Jail, No.7 Area.

Chen Yujiang began a hunger strike. On December 6th he was sent to the jail hospital but still suffered persecution. Chen continued the hunger strike until February 2007. During that time the jail arranged for prisoners to assist the guards in the persecution. Besides forced transfusions, the guards mainly used forced feeding through a nasal tube. Two months later they switched to a crueller method of open-mouth tube forced feeding. Chen was locked into a small cell twice, although he was very weak due to his hunger strike.

During over two years of persecution, Chen has become emaciated. In March 2007 Chen was diagnosed with tuberculosis of the lungs. Chen's life is in danger. This was the situation as of May 2007. His present situation is not known.

The authorities directly plotting the persecution are Wu Tianquan and Zhang Yongjun, two chiefs in the Education Office, and a policeman, Guan.
