Mr. Yang Guoquan is from Juxiang Village, Songshu Township, Xifeng County, Liaoning Province. Before he started practising Falun Gong, he developed some diseases and could not have a proper career. At the end of 1998, after Mr. Yang began to practise Falun Gong, all his diseases disappeared. He also actively did good deeds for the local people. As a result, he was publicly recognized as someone who had become a genuinely good person.
In 2000, Mr. Yang was sentenced to three years of forced labour for appealing in Beijing for the right to practise Falun Gong. In October 2007, Cheng Zishan (male) and Chen Biao (male), officers of the Xifeng County 610 Office, struck him on the mouth with electric batons. Also, they went to Juxiang Village and Toudaogou Village many times to deceive villagers and make them commit perjury. On December 25th, 2007, Mr. Yang was sentenced to three years in prison by the Xifeng County Court. Around January 25th, 2008, he was taken to Shenyang Prison and subjected to persecution.
