The Olympic Games will be held in Beijing this year. The Chinese Communist Party (CCP) has already started to arrest Falun Gong practitioners en masse in the various districts and townships of Beijing. They claim that this is necessary for the Olympic Games to proceed smoothly. We hope all overseas practitioners and people of the international society will call attention to this situation.
Ms. Li Yuejin was an employee of the Wenquan Township Aerial Material Institute in the Haidian District. She was laid off several years ago because she practises Falun Gong. On February 19th, 2008, about a dozen police officers from the Wenquan Township Police Office in Haidian District, Beijing City surrounded her home. It was said that police from the Haidian Police Department also participated. At that time, a five- or six-year-old child was also at home.
Ms. Li Yuejin did not open the door. The policemen tried to pry the door open. After they failed, they got an employee of a lock company to open the door. While this was happening, Ms. Li dialled the emergency number to report the incident to the police. However, when the police learned she was a Falun Gong practitioner, they told her that she had to open the door.
The police forcibly entered Ms. Li Yuejin's home and searched it several times, but they did not find the "evidence" they wanted. They examined the computer in her home several times. The police said that the computer had software that could wipe out evidence of surfing the Internet, so they had to take away the computer away to be examined. After they took away Ms. Li Yuejin and her computer, the police informed her family that the computer contained information about Falun Gong. However, Ms. Li's family knows she does not know how to use the computer.
Ms. Li Yuejin is detained but her whereabouts are unknown. Her young child misses her and cries every day. Her elderly parents are so scared and anxious that they have spent their days in tears.
