On March 27th, 2008, six Falun Gong practitioners, including Ms. Tang Yingxia and Mr. Lang Shuyin from Kaifu District, Changsha City, were arrested when they were in the house of practitioner Mr. Wu Jinping in Wangcheng County. Mr. Wu Jinping and three others were among those arrested.

The State Security Division of Wangcheng County Police Department was involved in the entire arrest operation. When Ms. Tang Yingxia's husband returned home on April 1st, 2008, he found that everything in his home was scattered around in a mess and his wife was missing.

On March 30th, 2008, officers of the State Security Division and Xiangya Road Police Station, and staff members of Baishantai Community Office in Kaifu District broke into Ms. Tang Yingxia's residence in Changsha City. Personal items and more than 8,000 yuan1 in cash were taken. Her printer was taken and labelled "reactionary evidence." During the break-in, only her 85-year-old mother-in-law was there. She has been unconscious for a long time and cannot take care of herself, so she was not able to sign as an eyewitness. Therefore, her family is unsure of exactly what was seized.

On April 3rd, 2008, Mr. Tang's husband, Mr. Fu Huangbao, went to the office of the State Security Division to request detailed information, and was treated rudely. The officers claimed that they had only seized 3,000 yuan in cash from his home, and stated that they may or may not return the money.

Ms. Tang, 61 years old, is retired from the Construction and Installation Engineering Company in Changsha City. Since beginning to practise Falun Gong in 1998, she has been following the principles of "Truthfulness-Compassion-Tolerance" to become a better person. Her health improved as a result. She used to smoke, drink and gamble, but stopped all of these things after practising Falun Gong.

In December 2000, Ms. Tang was detained for the first time under the pretext that her mother and sister (both practitioners) had not been seen in 48 hours and had possibly gone to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong. After a two month in detention, she was released after her family and workplace signed guarantee statements to renounce Falun Gong.

In 2002, Ms. Tang was compelled to leave home due to the intense pressure of the persecution and became destitute and homeless for more than six months.

At present, Ms Tang Yingxia is being held in Wangcheng County Detention Centre. During several interrogations, officers of the State Security Division have used violence to try to extort "evidence" from her. They have submitted the paperwork to have her sentence to forced labour.
