Ms. Yin Guiqiu is a 45-year-old resident of Xiangyin County, Hunan Province. She joined other practitioners from the area and went to Beijing to explain the facts about Falun Gong to officials in late December 2000. Train police arrested her and held her at the county detention centre for more than three months.
The police arrested her again on March 6th, 2002, as she was posting Falun Gong flyers in Xiangyin County. They took her to the county detention centre, where the guards brutally tortured her. She was sentenced to six months of forced labour on June 9th, 2002. Her husband divorced her due to pressure from the local officials. Ms. Yin had to leave her home to avoid further persecution.
