Older Practitioner Ms. Lei Yugui Dies As a Result of Persecution in Henan Province

Ms. Lei Yugui, who was in her 60s, lived in the Ethylene Production Residential Community in the Zhongyuan Petroleum Field¹, Puyang City, Henan Province. She was once very sick and had to be hospitalized many times. After cultivating in Falun Gong, however, she became healthy both mentally and physically. In October 1999, she went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong, using her entire month vacation time. The management of both the Zhongyuan Petroleum Field and her residential community harassed her many times after she returned from Beijing.

At the beginning of 2000, Ms. Lei went back to Beijing to appeal again, but she was arrested in Tiananmen Square. Agents from the Zhongyuan Petroleum Field 610 Office² brought her back from Beijing, and she was detained for a month in the Puyang City Detention Centre. Both the 610 Office and the local police took her to brainwashing sessions many times.

In 2005, agents from the 610 Office and the local police department searched Ms. Lei's home and found Falun Gong materials. The emotional strain caused her to lose consciousness, and she was rushed to the Zhongyuan Petroleum Field Employee Hospital. While Ms. Lei was at the hospital, Officer Sang Hu tried to force her to tell who had given her the materials, but she remained silent until her death.
