Ms. Xin Xiaoping is a kind hearted country woman in Wentang Village, Linli County, Changde City, Hunan Province. In June 2002, she was detained for 15 days because she quarrelled with her neighbour. In the detention centre, at the beginning, she cried all day, felt very distressed and did not eat and drink. She then had the good fortune to meet several Falun Gong practitioners who had been detained there for more than a year. This led her to the practice of Falun Gong.

After beginning the practice, Ms. Xin Xiaoping no longer felt angry and resentful. She learned the exercises, and studied Falun Gong teachings. Fifteen days later, she was released. Her health improved, with earlier headaches, dizziness, and cramping now gone. From then on, she followed the principle of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance. She is now more tolerant at both home and out in society, and she does not quarrel with others.

However, because Ms. Xin follows the principle of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance, she was arrested and detained by the county 610 Office1 in December 2005. Her home was searched. Since June 2006, she has been forced to be homeless in order to avoid arrest. On October 15th, 2008, Ms. Xin was followed by police from the 610 Office on the way to the Changsha National Electric Net Company for work. Afterwards, she was arrested and sent to the Linli County Detention Centre. She has now been detained for more than three months.

Ms. Xin's husband is an honest and kind hearted carpenter. When his wife could not stay at home due to the persecution, he took his daughter to school and provided for his elderly parents. The family is in difficulty. Several months ago, he brought his daughter to Changsha to reunite with his wife. They were together only for a few months before Ms. Xin was arrested. On January 2nd, 2009, he fell from a ladder while working, dislocating his hip. The doctor said he had to be hospitalized for two months to receive traction. Now his 18-year-old daughter and 74-year-old father take turns going to the hospital to take care of him.
