Ms. Yang Miao, 34, from Shijiazhuang City, Hebei Province, was taken to a forced labour camp by the Changan Police Department in July 2008 for one and a half years of forced labour. She is presently imprisoned at the Hebei Provincial First Labour Camp in Tangshan City. She has been tortured to the point of near death, and she suffers from a high blood pressure level of 220. The labour camp does not want to keep her and has told her family members to bail her out for medical treatment.
Ms. Yang Miao's father is nearly 70 years old and is recuperating from a stroke as well as other disabilities. He cannot move without difficulty, and he lives an extremely difficult life at home alone. Upon learning about his daughter's situation, he went to the Gaoying Local Police Station six times to bail out Ms. Yang for medical treatment, but the Gaoying Local Police Station intentionally shifted its responsibility onto others. On March 2nd, Ms. Yang's father finally met with the director of the Gaoying Local Police Station. The director said that he dared not authorize her release since the Chinese Communist Party's (CCP) "Two Conferences" were about to be held, and told the father to go to the State Security Division of the Changan Police Department for an approval stamp first.
Ms. Yang, single, was employed by the Advanced Technical School in Shijiazhuang City, and her father is a retired teacher from the same school. When she was an adolescent, she witnessed her mother's death in a hit and run car accident, a huge mental blow. After Ms. Yang started practising Falun Gong, she got over this tragedy and returned to her original sincere, warm disposition. She treated everyone with the compassion that she cultivated in Falun Gong, worked diligently, and had a very good reputation among those that knew her.
Because she persisted in her belief in Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance, she suffered all kinds of tribulations: She was forced to quit her job and was arrested, beaten, put into a forced labour camp, and even brutally tortured. In 2002, she was forced to become destitute and homeless to avoid persecution. One night, a gang of police officers broke into the room she was renting, dragged her from her bed, covered her head with a black plastic bag, and forced her into a car. The air-tight plastic bag almost suffocated her. When the car arrived at an unknown place, the police dragged her out to beat her mercilessly, then hung her up by handcuffs with her feet off the ground. Ms. Yang's whole body weight pulled on the handcuffs, and they sank into her flesh. After some time, her skin broke, and blood streamed down. Her arms were nearly crippled. She could not lift her arms or exert force on them, and she only recovered after a very long period of doing the Falun Gong exercises.
From 2000 to 2004, she was imprisoned at a labour camp twice, once for two years, and the next time for three years. After she was taken to the labour camp, her father had to take care of himself alone.
In 2004, Ms. Yang Miao was released from the labour camp. On July 3rd, 2008, one month before the opening of Beijing Olympic Games, office chief Yan Chaohui and security office director Gao Yong of the Advanced Technical School in Shijiazhuang City called Ms. Yang to the school. She never returned home after that. The next day, Yan Chaohui and Gao Yong again led police to Ms. Yang's home to confiscate her family's property and steal many items, including Falun Gong books and so on. They didn't even give a detailed list of what they took to her family. Within a couple days, Ms. Yang's father was informed that she had been sentenced to one and a half years of forced labour.
We hereby appeal to the world to help to facilitate the reunion of Ms. Yang and her father.
