At 3 p.m. on October 1st, 2008, Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Li Suxue, 49 years old, was tortured to death at a forced labour camp.

Ms. Li lived in the Fengtai District of Beijing. On January 24, 2008, agents from the Fengtai District Domestic Security Brigade, officers from the Panjiacun Police Station and staff from the local community management committee arrested Ms. Li. They ransacked her home after arresting her. The court sentenced her to two years of forced labour for nothing more than striving to live by the principles of Truthfulness, Compassion, Forbearance.

After Ms. Li's death, her family asked that her body be released to them. Authorities from the forced labour camp refused to release the body and forbade anyone to take pictures or videotape the body. They did not allow practitioners to attend Li Suxue's funeral and arrested those who came to pay their last respects at the funeral.

Ms. Li's fellow practitioner, who lived nearby, was also arrested and sentenced to a two-year forced labour term. Police from the Chaoyang Police Sub-Bureau came to arrest her and ransacked her home. She is detained at Daxing Forced Labour Camp, where she suffers cruel torture.
