At around 9:00 a.m. on April 8th, 2009, Ms. Ni Cuixia, a teacher at Xujia Elementary School in Xiyang Township, Wafangdian City, was arrested by officers from the city 610 Office1 and Xiyang Township Police Station when she told the facts of Falun Gong to the public. Her home was ransacked at the same time.

Ms. Ni's daughter went to the police station many times after her arrest. She asked to see Liu Jun, the person responsible for her mother's arrest, to request a visit with her mother. But Liu refused to see the daughter.

At around 9:00 p.m. on April 15th, Ms. Ni's daughter and friend went to Liu's house. Liu's wife responded and told them that they had the wrong address. Then about twenty or so plain clothes police officers rushed out with their bats, long knives (1 metre or so long), and batons. They began striking and beating them.

Afterwards, the police dragged them up the hill behind the building of Liu's house to further beat them. They said, "Aren't you Falun Gong people? Why are you looking for Liu Jun?" They held a knife to the neck of the friend who went with Ms. Ni's daughter. They threatened her, "We are burying you two right here today."
