Four elderly practitioners from Yuping County, Tongren Prefecture in Guizhou Province, were arrested for distributing Falun Gong fliers in Yangqiao Area, Qingong County. They were taken to the Laocheng Detention Centre in Qingong County, Qiandongnan Prefecture, where they remain to this day. Agents of the county court and judiciary department, as well as the local police, are planning to sentence each of them to long prison terms.

The four practitioners are Ms. Quan Daoyin and Ms. Zhang Dezhen, in their sixties, and Ms. Tian Xiuju and Ms. Deng Xiaoling, in their fifties. Their families are very angry that their loved ones were arrested and detained. Ms. Quan's spouse became very emotional upon hearing the news.

Ms. Zhang's husband, Mr. Yao Maoyuan from Yuping County, was previously sentenced to four years in the Duyun Prison. Not long after that, the couple were jointly sentenced to three years in the Zhongba Forced Labour Camp.

Shortly after Ms. Zhang's most recent arrest, her family found out that her spouse was reported for handing out Falun Gong fliers on January 30th, 2008 . Mr. Yao along with Ms. Chen Huamei, Ms. Liu Julian, Ms. Zhang Sanmei, Ms. Qiu Bizhen, and Ms. Li Gaomei were arrested in Shuiwei Town and later detained at the Laocheng Detention Centre. The prison guards would not permit family members to visit with the practitioners.

The Qingong County Court later sentenced Mr. Yao to four years in prison, Ms. Zhang Sanmei to three and a half years, Ms. Chen Huamei, Ms. Liu Julian, and Ms. Qiu Bizhen to three years, and Ms. Li Gaomei to one and a half years in prison.
