Around 3:00 p.m. on February 26th, 2009, the police from Yutan Police Station of the Xicheng Police Department and the 610 Office1 broke into the home of 59-year-old practitioner, Ms. He Wen, and ransacked it. When Falun Gong materials were found, she was arrested at 6 p.m. and detained in the Pre-trial Division of Qinghe Jail. For refusing to renounce her belief, on March 16th, 2009 she was sentenced to three years of forced labour by the forced labour directory of the Beijing City government.
In the past, Ms. He suffered from bronchitis, hypertension, and she had a herniated disc. After beginning to practise Falun Gong her condition rapidly improved. Since the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) began the persecution of Falun Gong, Ms. He has gone to Tiananmen Square many times to appeal.
Ms. He was imprisoned at the Tiantanghe Women's Forced Labour Camp from 2000 to 2002. She was tormented by the prison guards and inmates. Because she held steadfast in her belief, she was taken to the "intensive training" team and put in solitary confinement. To resist the persecution, Ms. He and another practitioner went on hunger strikes, which lasted an entire year. Then she was released and went home. Between 2000 and 2008, she was arrested, detained, and put in a forced labour camp several times for distributing fliers and informing people about the persecution of Falun Gong.
In 2008, the CCP used the Olympics as an excuse to put Ms. He under house arrest. She was not allowed to go out, and she was monitored by security personnel around the clock. This seriously affected her life and the lives of her family. In spite of all this, she still talked to the security people and the neighbours every day to tell them the facts about Falun Gong and help them see the vicious nature of the CCP. During the time that the "two conferences" were held in 2009, the police in the Beijing area arrested practitioners on a large scale. At 3:00 p.m. on February 26th, the man in charge of the brainwashing classes for the Beijing area came to Ms. He's home. He tried to get her to open the door by claiming that he was there to have her sign up for a study class. When Ms. He refused the let them in, police officer Xu Tao, and others got a locksmith to open the security door and ransacked Ms. He's house. The police did not show any identification and the family members were unable to stop them. When the family members asked the police to show some identification and a search warrant, they were shown a blank search warrant. No names or reason for the search were recorded. At 6:00 p.m., after they had finished ransacking the house, the police forced Ms. He to go with them. She yelled "Falun Gong is good!" to let the neighbours know that she was being persecuted.
