Ms. Feng Xiaomei's Mother and Son Sleep in the Streets While Seeking Her Whereabouts

As of May 7th, 2009, Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Feng Xiaomei from Shijiazhuang City, Hebei Province, had been on a hunger strike for eleven days and was on the brink of death. Her family and a lawyer tried to find discover her whereabouts, but in vain. They had asked privately where she and knew that officers from the Yuhua District 610 Office¹ had sent Ms. Feng to a brainwashing centre at the Hebei Province Legal Education Centre. Ms. Feng's mother and son, Tianxing, went to the Yuhua District government to seek help. However, 610 Office head Liu replied that he didn't know Ms. Feng's whereabouts, but said that they could pass things on to her.

When Feng's mother and son went to the Gaocheng Detention Centre to visit her on April 30th, Ms. Feng was still on a hunger strike. She told them that she would continue the hunger strike. As of May 7th, Ms. Feng had been on a hunger strike for eleven days. Her mother and son were very worried, so they went to the Yuhua District 610 Office that afternoon to find Liu, but they couldn't locate him. To be sure they didn't miss him when he arrived, they slept in front of the Yuhua District government building.

It is May, and although it is hot during the day, it is still very cold at night. Ms. Feng's mother fell asleep quickly because she was tired. Tianxing was unable to fall asleep because he was cold, and he sat up all night. At 8:30 a.m. the next day (May 8th) they visited Liu, but got not results. Liu said he could not help them and told them to go see deputy head Cui at the city 610 Office. By then, Ms. Feng's mother was physically worn out, and she had to take her grandson home. They are not sure what the future holds.
