From the 30th of May to the 1st of June 2009, Salzburg celebrated the annual Pfingsten holiday. During this time, Falun Gong practitioners in Austria held activities at Residenzplatz in the centre of the city to let people know about Falun Gong and expose the Chinese Communist Party's (CCP) atrocities of persecuting Falun Gong practitioners.

Salzburg's Pfingstfestspiele, the second largest local art festival, is well-attended by many world famous opera singers, bands, and artists. The event is popular in Europe and annually attracts many fans from all over the world, as well as local crowds.

As in the past, the Falun Gong practitioners' activity proved to be popular and well-supported. People expressed their indignation of the atrocious persecution by the CCP. Many gave practitioners encouragement and support, hoping they would continue, and signed to support the anti-persecution efforts.

Having heard practitioners' introduction, a local couple said, "The CCP's tactics are no different than Hitler's were. The international community should take action to stop the persecution."

A gentleman was furious about the persecution. He said, "Our government should separate politics from business. It must pressure the Chinese regime with regard to its human rights abuses."
