On 18th June 2009, Chinese leader Hu Jintao went to Bratislava, Slovakia for a 2 day visit. His stay in Slovakia saw protests drawing attention to human rights abuses in China.
A protest highlighting human rights issues in China took place on Monday 17th June on Hodzovo square, in front of the Presidential Palace. A petition requesting an immediate end to the persecution of Falun Gong in China was handed over to the President's office. The petition was signed by more then 15,000 people in Slovakia. In a letter accompanying the petition a representative of Falun Gong asked the Slovak president to raise the issue of human rights and the persecution of Falun Gong in negotiations with the Chinese leader.

Several NGOs took part in the protest and many media, including TV stations, came to report on it. People stopped to watch a re-enactment of the organ harvesting that the CCP is perpetrating against Falun Gong practitioners in China. Many people stopped and signed the petition. Some were shocked when they found out about the organ harvesting. One man went around the stand and read the information banners, but as he saw the re-enactment he went without straight to sign the petition. More then 200 people signed the petition in one day.
