Mr. Fan Yichang, 69, formerly was the manager of the Da'an City Sugar and Liqueur Company. He suffered a stroke in the past, but all of his ailments disappeared after he started to practise Falun Gong. He was a kind and honest person, and even officer Chen Yamin, who mistreated him, had to say that Mr. Fan was a good person.
On the morning of March 15th, 2009, Mr. Fan was walking down the street when he was suddenly kicked down to the ground by more than ten police officers, including Chen Yamin. They arrested him and imprisoned him in the Da'an City Detention Centre. They said Mr. Fan had written words explaining the true situation of Falun Gong. They ransacked his home and threatened his wife to the verge of a nervous breakdown. She was walking on the streets all day, not knowing how to get home. Their neighbours all say, "The Chinese Communist Party (CCP) is too vicious and will not let old people be. They have destroyed Mr. Fan's contented family."
Due to rescue efforts from all over the world, Mr. Fan Yichang was released around April 15th, 2009. But, only a few days after Mr. Fan had returned home, officer Chen Yamin and others secretly arrested him again and took him back to the detention centre, planning to sentence him to prison. Officer Chen was afraid their actions would be exposed, so he threatened the family to not let other practitioners know, or they would give him a heavier sentence him. Mr. Fan's family did not dare to tell anyone until today.
Mr. Fan was sentenced to prison during his detention in the Da'an City Detention Centre. Before being sent to prison, he died at 6 a.m. on July 22nd, 2009, and his body was cremated against the family's will.
