On Saturday, September 19th, 2009, 15 practitioners in Jiamusi City, Heilongjiang Province, including Chuang Jing, Wen Ying, and Liu Guiqing were studying Falun Gong and sharing experiences at a practitioner's home in Jianan District. As soon as they sat down, someone knocked on the door and yelled: "It is flooded upstairs. I need to check in here." Since the owner did not suspect anything, he opened the door, and six or seven police officers (some in uniforms and some not) rushed in. They blocked the exit and ordered everyone to freeze.
The officers searched everyone and their belongings. They seized Falun Gong articles as well as other materials. The police ransacked the house, and seized a computer and some other property. They then dragged all of the practitioners into a police vehicle. Ms. Chuang Jing resisted, and was dragged downstairs by the police while she cried out: "Falun Gong is good."
In the midst of Ms. Chuang's cries, while bystanders watched and commented, the police drove the practitioners away.
It was very cold on September 19th in Jiamusi. The practitioners were taken to Nangang Police Station with only very light clothes on. Ms. Chuang refused to cooperate with the police, and was thrown onto the icy-cold floor. The Qiangjin Police Department and Shunhe Police Station in Jiamusi City dispatched many police cars, officers, assistants, and plainclothes officers. They surrounded the building where Ms. Chuang lives.
The police first took mug shots of the practitioners and interrogated them in separate rooms. They then gave them a physical exam in the Hospital for Tumours. Five practitioners were found to be too old or too sick to endure the persecution. Rather than release them immediately, the police threatened their relatives and told them to pay money before they would be released. Several practitioners' family members paid right away.
Currently, Chuang Jing, Wen Ying, Liu Guiqin, Wang Jinxia, Sun Yufu, Song Lijuan, Wang Yuxin, Da Yu, and Zhang Chunying are all being held in Jiamusi Jail.
This arrest activity was planned by the City Police Department, Qianjin District Police Department, and Nangang Police Station. The deputy chiefs of the City Police Department and Qianjin District Police Department were personally involved. Attempting to ensure calm on October 1st, National Day, the Chinese Communist Party has dispatched police everywhere in Jiamusi City beginning in August. Some police have hired additional helpers to watch practitioners. In late August, one of the practitioners was arrested twice in four days. On September 2nd, practitioners Wang Xiaoyun and Yang Guiying were simultaneously arrested in front of the Xuesong Elementary School and are still being held in jail.
