My name is Zhang Zihe and I am a seventy-seven year old retired worker from The Fifth Hospital of Chengdu City in Sichuan Province. I have colon cancer and have a bowel drainage bag attached to my body since surgery. I rely on my wife to take care of me at home.
My wife's name is Luo Yuying; she is sixty-six years old. She is a simple rural women who is illiterate. She used to have many illnesses. Since she started practising Falun Gong in 1999, all of her incurable illnesses have gone away. The happiness of being healthy made her firmly believe that Falun Gong is great!
Since July 20th, 1999, my wife has been arrested and detained more than a dozen times because of her belief and her telling others about the benefits of practising Falun Gong. She was also sent to the forced labour camp twice, once for one-and-a-half years and another time for two years. My wife almost died in the forced labour camp after suffering all kinds of torture.
Around noon on September 3rd, 2009, I was lying in bed after surgery for colon cancer. Suddenly, more than a dozen police from the Liucheng Police Station in Wenjiang rushed into our home. They did not show any identification or search warrant. My wife's arms were forced behind her back, and our home was ransacked. They took our computer and more than ten thousand yuan1. My wife was forcefully dragged out, and they did not let go of me--an old man with a serious illness--either. I was detained at Liucheng Police Station until 8:00 p.m.; when they saw that I was seriously ill, they released me.
However, my wife has been detained at the detention centre since then, without being heard from. Despite my illness, I went to the police station several times and begged for the release of my wife. Not only would they not release her, but they did not permit me to see her. They fiercely pounded on the desk and told me to get out.
I have serious a illness and cannot take care of myself. I urgently need my wife's assistance. I appeal to kind-hearted people: Please help me and give me the strength to survive!
