The authorities of Longquanyi Women's Prison, Chengdu City, Sichuan Province stripped off practitioners' clothes in an attempt to coerce them to give up their practice of Falun Gong.

All practitioners detained at Longquanyi Women's Prison were forced to go through a "strict discipline period" during their first three months at the prison. During this period of time, practitioners were not allowed to leave their cells, buy anything, or talk to anybody from outside the prison. Each cell has two inmates who were assigned by prison authorities to closely monitor practitioners. The police and assigned inmates took turns to brainwash practitioners by slandering Falun Gong, and playing videos defaming Falun Gong. Steadfast practitioners who resisted the brainwashing are kept there beyond three months.

When practitioners refuse to give in, their clothes are confiscated, leaving them with only bras and underpants. Sometimes the officials take away the clothes of all of the inmates in the same cell so as to instigate hatred towards the practitioners. Practitioners Zhu Yifang, Gang Fengxiang and Zhong Shiqiong, who are detained in the second division of the sixth ward, were subjected to this kind of ill treatment. They were not allowed to cover themselves with things like bedsheets.

When practitioner Zhong Shiqiong was taken to the sixth ward, the police took away all her clothes and would not allow anyone to give her any clothes. In addition, the inmates who were assigned to monitor her closely poked her hands with sewing needles.

Practitioners detained at Longquanyi Women's Prison were forced to do overtime hard labour under around-the-clock monitoring. When a practitioner goes to the toilet, the whole monitoring team follows her. The mental and physical torture of practitioners have taken a tremendous toll.
