News from the European hosting organisation for Shen Yun Performing Arts stated that the Romanian Ministry of Education recently refused to allow its theatre to be used for the Shen Yun show. The local hosting organisation, the Romanian Falun Dafa Association, had a signed contract with the theatre, and have determined, based on an investigation, that the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) influenced Romanian government officials, who made the decision to cancel the planned performance.

Shen Yun Performing Arts visited Europe in 2007 for the first time, and in 2010, about twenty European cities will host the show.

CCP diplomats have exerted pressure and intimidated theaters and politicians in Germany, Austria, France and other countries, deliberately interfering with the show.

Csaba Sogor, a member of the European Parliament from Romania and a member of the Christian Democrats parliamentary group as well as a representative of Romania's Hungarian minority, was saddened to hear that Romania had bowed to pressure from the Chinese regime by cancelling the Shen Yun performance. "It is very sad, because politics should never override human rights issues or cultural issues ... Music has no borders and politics," said Mr. Sogor.

Shen Yun audience members are waiting to see if the Romanian government will change its decision after receiving encouragement from individuals and organizations from other European countries.
