Elderly Mr. Du Sian Passes Away After Suffering 10 Years of the Persecution

Former manager Mr. Du Sian of Nanyang City Meat Processing Factory in Henan Province suffered from severe sores on his leg in 1995 and was told that he needed to amputate the leg to avoid the spread of infection. The sores, however, miraculously disappeared after he read the Falun Gong book, Zhuan Falun, and began to practise Falun Gong.

After enduring the Chinese Communist Party's persecution for over 10 years, Mr. Du's health began to deteriorate, he started suffering from oedema, and he became bedridden near the end of 2009. He passed away on April 28th, 2010, at the age of 85.

Mr. Du and his wife, both practitioners, have been arrested, closely monitored and harassed many times. Their home was also repeatedly ransacked.

Mr. Du's youngest son, Mr. Du Xu, died as a result of the torture he endured for his belief in Falun Gong.

Mr. Du Xu was arrested at home by officers from the National Security Team of the Wancheng District Police Department in Nanyang City on November 15th, 2000. He was severely tortured and taken to the Nanyang City No. 1 Hospital for an emergency rescue at about 1 p.m. on November 28th, 2000, after being in critical condition. His family was not notified until 7 p.m. According to the hospital records, Mr. Du Xu suffered from a brain contusion, heart congestion, several fractures in his left leg, swollen and bruised eyes, legs, and feet, and other injuries. He passed away at 5:30 a.m. on January 10th, 2001.

After Mr. Du Xu's body was hastily cremated against the family's will, Mr. Du Sian was arrested and sent to the Nanyang City No. 2 Detention Centre. He was transferred to the Yong'anlu Detention Centre in Nanyang City in March 2001.

Mr. Du was forcibly taken to a brainwashing centre before the National Day holiday in 2003. He was also detained in a brainwashing centre for two months during the Beijing Olympic Games in 2008.

Mr. Du's wife, 77, was reported to the police while she distributed leaflets exposing the persecution of Falun Gong in November 2009. She was arrested by officers from Wolong District Police Department in Nanyang City and detained for one day. The officers also ransacked the couple's home and confiscated their Falun Gong books.

Policemen Wang Taicheng, Duan Xiancheng, and Du Siwei from the National Security Team of the Wancheng District Police Department participated in the persecution of Mr. Du Sian and his family.
