Ms. Li Baolian, a Falun Gong practitioner from Baoji City, Shaanxi Province, was sentenced to two years of forced labour in 2009 for distributing leaflets exposing the persecution and telling people the facts about Falun Gong to the public. She is still imprisoned at the Shaanxi Province Women's Forced Labour Camp. Her father, who is over 80 years old, has been left at home alone with no one to take care of him and leads a very difficult life.

Before this sentence, Li Baolian had been arrested and detained by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) police many times and suffered from brutal persecution. She had even been detained at a boarding house in September 2003 and was injected against her will with unknown drugs, which affected her mentally for a while.

Ms. Li Baolian is retired from the Baoji Petroleum Machine Factory. On March 8th, 2009, she was reported by someone and arrested by officers from the Jinling Police Department. She had been distributing leaflets exposing the persecution to the public in Qiaotou Park in Jinling. Later, the Jintai police, Jinling police, Maying police, Maying Community Office, and Petroleum Community Office together searched her house and found nothing. But the CCP police still held her in the detention centre for over a month and then sentenced her to two years of forced labour at the Shaanxi Province Women's Forced Labour Camp.

Daughter Imprisoned, Grief-stricken Mother Passes Away

Li Baolian's parents were both over 80. After she was arrested, they went to the Jinling Police Station many times to request the release of their daughter. But the police not only denied their requests, but they also did not allow them to see their daughter even once. After Ms. Li was sent to the forced labour camp, her mother missed her very much. Her mother did not eat or drink, but just cried every day. The mental suffering caused her to develop hypertension and she had a heart attack. She was paralysed and was sick in bed all the time. She passed away in September 2009. She did not have a chance to see her daughter again before she died.

As a Result of the Persecution, Her Family Is in Pieces

On December 28th, 1999, Li Baolian went to Beijing with her daughter and other practitioners to appeal for Falun Gong. She had already divorced a few years prior and she had brought her daughter to live with her and her parents. Just after they arrived in Beijing, they were immediately arrested by personnel from the Security Protection Section at her workplace, who had come to Beijing before her to stop her at the train station. She was first taken to the Reception Room in the Beijing West Train Station and then to Baoji City. She was released after being held at the Baoji Petroleum Hotel for a few days and was fined over 3,000 yuan1.

In November 2001, Ms. Li and other practitioners went to the Baoji City Light Bulb Factory to hand out the materials exposing the persecution of Falun Gong, and were arrested by officers from Weibin Police Department and the Qiaonan Police Department in Baoji City. Later officers from the Weibin Police Department sentenced her to the Shaanxi Province Women's Forced Labour Camp for a year and a half.

Brutally Persecuted and Injected with Poisonous Drugs

On September 24th, 2003, Ms. Li Baolian was arrested and taken to the 792 Factory boarding house in Guo Town for no reason. Police officers Chen Yunde and Lei Zhili from Jintai Police Department and over ten other officers from Dongfenglu Police Department, Dongfenglu Community Office, Petroleum Security Protection Section and the Petroleum Community Office made the arrest. In order to force her to give up the cultivation of Falun Gong, the police did not allow her to sleep and tried every way to torture her. But they still could not get what they wanted. They even injected her with unknown drugs, which made her mentally abnormal. She also spit blood and she became very thin. The police did not release her until over 40 days later.

In Order to "Protect" the Olympic Games, the CCP Brutally Persecuted Falun Gong Practitioners

In July 2008, Ms. Li returned from her daughter's home. The next day, directed by the CCP, the Petroleum Machine Factory started another round of persecuting Falun Gong practitioners, claiming it was to "protect the Olympic Games." They assigned specific personnel to closely monitor Falun Gong practitioners 24 hours a day in three shifts. Ms. Li was one of the practitioners who was closely monitored. All of the Falun Gong practitioners and their family members were adversely affected.
