Ms. Wu Yun is a Falun Gong practitioner in her thirties, and a resident of Kunming, Yunnan Province. On August 27th, Ms. Wu was arrested at home, and her home was ransacked. Over 20 police officers and plainclothes police participated in the arrest. Ms. Wu is currently detained at the Wuhua District Detention Centre.
The following practitioners were also arrested and had their homes ransacked on the same day: Ms. Zhang Shuilan, Mr. Shen Zhuyou, Ms. Min Lanzhen, Mr. Han Shulin, Ms. Sun Xianxin, Ms. Li Yongbi, and Ms. Zhang Ruqiong.
Agents from the Wuhua District 610 Office [an agency specifically created to persecute Falun Gong], the Domestic Security Division, and the Daguan Police Station approached Ms. Wu Yun's son, who had come home from school, took advantage of him, and forced themselves into the home on August 27th around 11:00 a.m., and began ransacking the home.
Over 20 police officers and plainclothes police officers were in the home, including six or seven armed police carrying rifles and pistols.
The ransacking lasted over five hours, and the police took many photos and videos throughout. During the process Ms. Wu continuously explained the facts about Falun Gong to them, but she was ultimately taken away.
That same day, Ms. Zhang Shuilan, a retired worker from Panlong District, was arrested at home by several officers from the district's Domestic Security Division. The police ransacked the house and made video recordings. They confiscated a satellite TV receiver, two computers, a DVD burner, CDs, and pamphlets exposing the persecution of Falun Gong.
At about 9:00 a.m. the same day, police officers from the Juhua Police Station and Domestic Security Division broke into Mr. Shen Zhuyou's home and forcibly confiscated some personal belongings. They also ransacked the home of Mr. Shen's son. Mr. Shen is currently being detained at the Guandu District Detention Centre.
Over a dozen officers from the Cuihu Police Station and Domestic Security Division forced themselves into the home of Mr. Han Shulin and Ms. Kong Shiying at about 1:30 p.m. They arrested the couple and their child, and plundered their personal belongings. After being extorted of 3,000 yuan1 for "bail," Ms. Kong and the child were released. Currently, the teenage child remains extremely frightened. Mr. Han is currently being held at the Wuhua District Detention Centre.
At about 1:00 p.m., practitioner Ms. Zhang Ruqiong was arrested at her hair salon by policeman Feng Jun and others from the Domestic Security Division of the Guandu District Police Department. The perpetrators, together with officers from the Juhuacun Police Station, went to ransack Zhang's home. They confiscated many Falun Gong books, a DVD burner, and DVDs. Mr. Zhang is currently being held at the Guandu Detention Centre.
