On November 6 and 7, Hu Jintao, the leader of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), visited Portugal. Due to pressure from the CCP, the local government didn't approve the Falun Gong practitioners' application to peacefully protest. But practitioners still found opportunities to make their voice heard by the Chinese officials.
Around 3:50 p.m. on November 6, Hu Jintao's group drove by Jeronimos Church, where they encountered Falun Gong practitioners. The practitioners shouted in Chinese: "Dissolve the CCP; Stop the persecution!" The Chinese officials, who were 15 feet away from practitioners, heard them clearly.

The local police did not allow the practitioners to do the exercises in front of the Palacio de Necessidade on November 7. Practitioners then talked to the Chinese people who were sent by the Chinese Embassy to interfere with the practitioners' protests and told them the truth about the human rights abuses the CCP is committing against Falun Gong.
