A Number of Falun Gong Practitioners Sentenced in Anlu City, Hubei Province

During the past eleven years, Li Jinchu, the former 610 Office (an organisation of special agents just for persecuting Falun Gong) director, and deputy director Nie Hanzhang persecuted more than 100 local practitioners. They also sentenced over twenty practitioners to labour camps and prison, forced over thirty practitioners into brainwashing centres, and held over seventy practitioners in detention centres. Numerous practitioners lost their jobs, became homeless, had their families broken apart, and were even persecuted to death.

The following are several cases from Anlu, Hubei Province.

Ms. Cheng Xuli Sentenced to Seven Years in Prison

Ms. Cheng Xuli, 51, is retired from a cotton spinning factory in Anlu. On June 29th, 2008, she was arrested by the Hangzhou City Public Security Bureau police while explaining the facts about Falun Gong to people in Tanghexin Village. She was held at the Xixilu Detention Centre and sentenced to seven years in prison in January 2009. She is being held in the Women's Prison 6th district, Zhejiang Province.

Ms. Pan Juying Sentenced to Seven Years in Prison

Ms. Pan Juying was arrested by Chinese Communist Party (CCP) personnel in July 2004, while distributing Falun Gong materials in Xiaogan City. She was held in the No.1 Detention Centre in Anlu City. During her hunger strike, the authorities persecuted her in the No. 2 Hospital in Anlu City. She was able to walk away, but was arrested again at a bus station. She was sentenced to a seven-year term in Hubei Province Women's Prison.

Mr. Cheng Zipeng Sentenced to Four Years in Prison

Mr. Cheng Zipeng, 46, was a staff member at Jiangxing in Anlu City. He began practising Falun Gong in 1996. He was fired from his job when the persecution began in 1999. On July 2nd, 2008, two police officers, Chen Xudong and Chen Xinrun, from the National Security Bureau and from the Fucheng Police Station, along with others, raided Mr. Cheng's home and arrested him. He was held in the Sili Detention Centre. He was secretly transferred to the Shayang Forced Labour Camp on March 29th, 2009. He is being held in the Fourth Division of the Fanjiatai Prison in Shayang.

Mr. Xie Zutao Sentenced to Four Years in Prison

Mr. Xie Zutao was arrested on March 9th, 2008, by officers from the Public Security Bureau. Lu Yongming from the security department of Cotton and Spinning Factory along with others raided his home and confiscated his Falun Gong books and DVD player. Mr. Xie was sentenced to four years in prison and is being held in the Fourth Division of the Fanjiatai Prison in Shayang.

Mr. Luan Jianjun Sentenced to Four Years in Prison

Mr. Luan Jianjun was arrested and tortured by officers from the Anlu National Security Bureau. According to an eyewitness account, Mr. Luan Jianjun was handcuffed to a large pole in the hallway of the Public Security Bureau. Tang Jianguo, the director of the National Security Bureau, along with police officers Mei Dean, Yang Chunqiao, Chen Aiqing, and deputy vice party secretary Wei Wenbin, tortured him. He was detained in the Sili Detention Centre and sentenced to four years in prison in 2008. He is being held in the Fourth Division of the Fanjiatai Prison in Shayang.

Ms. Liu Chunyan Sentenced to Eight Years in Prison

Liu Chunyan, a practitioner from Anlu City, was texting information exposing the persecution of Falun Gong with her phone at Rugao City, Jiangsu Province. She was arrested on September 19th, 2009 and held in the Rugao City Detention Centre. The Rugao City Court put her on trial on March 25th, 2010. There was no verdict due to insufficient evidence. They tried her again in May and sentenced her to eight years in prison. She is being held in the Rugao City Women's Prison.
