Mr. Chen Shiming Suffers Memory Loss and Physical Disability After Forced Injections of Unidentified Drugs

Mr. Chen Shiming from Baita Village, Danling County, Meishan City, Sichuan Province was arrested in July 2010. While he was imprisoned, he was subjected to forced injections of an unknown drug. He has since suffered from memory loss, inability to stand steadily, and he is no longer able to take care of himself.

Eight officers arrested Mr. Chen at his home in July 2010. It was the fifth time Mr. Chen has been arrested. The officers imprisoned him at the brainwashing centre at the Inn of the Electronic Communication Institution, Meishan 505 Factory. There, he was injected with an unknown drug and unidentified medicine was put into his food and drink. He was released after his blood pressure became dangerously high. Within a six months, he exhibited symptoms of memory loss, slow reactions, and convulsions. In addition, he is as thin as a skeleton, and can no longer stand steadily or even take care of himself.

Mr. Chen's symptoms are the same as those of Mr. He Yigui, who worked for the Nuclear Industry Southwest Physics Research Institution in Chengdu City. Mr. He died as a result of persecution.

Mr. Chen began practising Falun Gong in October 1998. He was arrested for the first time in March 2000, and detained at the Danling County Detention Centre for 15 days. He was detained again for more than 40 days in October 2000.

In September 2001, Mr. Chen was arrested for distributing materials exposing the persecution of Falun Gong. He was held at the Danling Detention Centre for more than a month, then secretly taken to the Mianyang Forced Labour Camp. He was subjected to the “half squat” torture (the victim is forced to squat down with legs apart and both arms raised forward parallel to the ground), physical abuse, detention in a small cell, forced labour, etc. Guards did not allow him to make any phone calls for four months. He was released after eighteen months.

In May 2006, officers arrested Mr. Chen at his home, held him in the Danling Police Station for a month, then imprisoned him at the Mianyang Forced Labour Camp for fifteen months. He was subjected to sleep deprivation and released after his blood pressure became dangerously high.
