Lin Hongxia from the Wangjiang Police Station in Wuhou District, Chengdu City, along with 610 Office (an organisation of special agents just for persecuting Falun Gong) director Zhou Jiang and National Security Bureau policemen Chen Dequan, Tan Yi and Fan Tai, monitored Ms. Liao Peimin and her daughter in the Linhewan neighbourhood over a 24-hour period on April 26th. They also cut off water and electricity to her apartment.

Around 11 p.m. on April 27th, Lin and another woman tricked Ms. Liao into opening the door. A dozen policemen forced their way into her home, grabbed her and dragged her to a waiting vehicle.

During the commotion, her daughter yelled: “Help! We're being kidnapped!” A heavy-set policeman wearing glasses slapped her face hard and threatened her.

Ms. Liao is currently held at the Chengdu City Jinhua Brainwashing Centre.

Ms. Liao had been a nurse at the Chengdu No. 7 Hospital. She was fired in 1999 because she refused to give up practising Falun Gong. Since the Chinese communist regime began to persecute Falun Gong practitioners in July 1999, she has been arrested and subjected to brainwashing many times.

A student reported Ms. Liao to the authorities while she distributed leaflets exposing the persecution of Falun Gong at the Chengdu Sports Institute on May 12th, 2008. She was subsequently arrested and send to the notorious Xinjin Brainwashing Centre for over a year. There, she was tortured psychologically and physically, to the point of being in critical condition. Officials in charge of the brainwashing centre were afraid to take responsibility for her deterioration and released her. Ms. Liao recovered her health through the Falun Gong practice. Later, she became homeless in order to avoid further persecution and went to Xindu.
