Dalian City Police Arrested and Robbed Over 30 Falun Gong Practitioners

Officials from the Dalian City Police Department and Dalian City Domestic Security Division, together with the Jinzhou New District Police Department and police stations in Dalian City of Liaoning Province, arrested more than 30 Falun Gong practitioners in Jinzhou New District and ransacked practitioners’ homes on June 29th. Many practitioners’ houses were stripped bare. Practitioner Mr. Wang Riqing was robbed of approximately forty to fifty thousand yuan¹ in cash and a deposit book containing over one hundred thousand yuan.

One of the masterminds behind the arrest was Bi Kefeng from the Jinzhou Domestic Security Division. Starting in early 2000 when Bi worked as a deputy head of the Shihe Town Police Station, he persecuted many practitioners. In late 2000, a practitioner was arrested while distributing materials that detailed the facts about Falun Gong and sent to the Shihe Town Police Station. Bi tortured the practitioner for more than five hours, causing the practitioner’s face to be deformed. Bi often severely beat practitioners during his tenure at the police station, and continued torturing practitioners after he was transferred to the Domestic Security Division four years later.

The June 29th arrests caused irreparable damage to the practitioners’ families. Many practitioners’ houses were stripped bare. The stores they operated had to be shut down. In addition, the practitioners were made to give "confessions" through torture in detention centres. The police even claimed the stolen computers and printers as evidence.

Practitioner Mr. Yu Changshun’s 18-year-old daughter had to travel thousands of miles from Heilongjiang Province to Dalian City by herself to demand the release of her father. She deeply understood that her father hadn't broken any laws. This year she enrolled at a well-known university in Beijing, and was in great need of her father's help for the tuition fee. However, her father is detained. Every day she had to endure a lot of hardships appealing for her father’s release.

The practitioners’ families all know that the practitioners didn’t break any laws. Because they know that they are in the right they confidently requested the immediate and unconditional release of the practitioners. However, Bi and the other evildoers are shirking responsibility for the crimes they've committed.
