Mr. Lin Hai from Zhijiang City, Hubei Province, Taken to Wuhan City Brainwashing Centre

Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Lin Hai from Zhijiang City, Hubei Province, was arrested at work at 6:30 p.m. on November 17th. The officials who participated in the arrest included Zhang Yuanhua from Zhijiang City Domestic Security Division and Zhou Hanbing and Dong Tao from the security department of Zhijiang City Electric Power Bureau. The following day at 2:00 p.m. Mr. Lin was transferred to the Wuhan City Brainwashing Centre.

The arrest was orchestrated by Zhijiang City 610 Office head (an organisation of special agents just for persecuting Falun Gong) Xiong Jianming and had been planned for a long time. On National Day in early October, Xiong had planned to set up a brainwashing centre in Zhijiang City to persecute Mr. Lin, but the scheme ultimately failed.

Mr. Lin, in his 30s, is employed at Zhijiang City Electric Power Bureau. He was once detained and tortured in the Zhijiang City Detention Centre in 2000. During that time, Wu Weihua from Zhijiang City Domestic Security Division severely beat him and almost blinded him. When his mother saw how horribly her son had been abused, she fell down in a faint.

As head of Zhijiang City 610 Office, Xiong Jianming is the main instigator in Zhijiang City. He has led the local authorities to arrest 30 to 40 practitioners, several of whom were sentenced. In addition, Xiong often harassed practitioners who had been released and coerced them to write reports to him.
