Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Qiu Ming was arrested by officers from Shanghai Domestic Security Division and detained at the Pudong District Detention Centre on December 18th.
Mr. Qiu started practising Falun Gong in October 2000. Soon afterwards, the tracheitis and coughing that had bothered him for years disappeared. He also became a better person who tried to be helpful and considerate of others.
Mr. Qiu Ming and Mr. Shen Weihua were arrested by agents from the 610 Office (an organisation of special agents just for persecuting Falun Gong) in Shanghai in 2001. Mr. Qiu was then transferred to the Hefei City Brainwashing Centre for further abuse. Later on, Mr. Shen was sentenced to nine years of imprisonment. When his sentence expired in September 2010, instead of being released, he was transferred to the Nantong Brainwashing Centre by Chinese Communist regime officials.
After Mr. Qiu was transferred to the brainwashing centre for further abuse in May 2003, his family members went from Hefei City to Shanghai. They visited various departments and asked them to release Qiu, but all the officials they met with shirked their responsibilities and sent them to other departments.
In June 2003, Qiu's family members went to the brainwashing centre and requested to meet with him. But the brainwashing centre staff refused to let them see him. At that time, there were many other practitioners detained at the brainwashing centre, including Mr. Lin Enlai.
When Mr. Qiu distributed some materials to let people know about the facts of Falun Gong in July 2009, he was arrested by police officers from Shanghai Police Station. The head of the Domestic Security Division immediately went to the place where he was arrested. They arranged to have police officers stake out the location, waiting to arrest more practitioners. Later on, they took Qiu to the Domestic Security Division, framed him on trumped up charges, and sent him to the detention centre for further abuse.
