On February 15th, 2012, the day before Chinese Vice President Xi Jinping's visit to Los Angeles as part of his United States tour, Falun Gong practitioners held a rally in front of the Chinese Consulate in L.A. to urge Xi to conduct an investigation of the Chinese officials who persecuted Falun Gong in the past 13 years; to stop the persecution of Falun Gong; and to bring Jiang Zemin, Luo Gan, Zhou Yongkang, Liu Jing, and Bo Xilai to justice.

KPCC TV reported on Monday the 15th that, despite the torrential rain, around 70 people rallied in front of the Chinese Consulate Wednesday afternoon to protest the persecution of Falun Gong by the Chinese government:
“'[Falun Gong] is a spiritual meditation practice,' explained Ying Nian Wu, a professor of statistics at UCLA and spokesperson for the local Falun Gong chapter. 'If they refuse to denounce their beliefs, they will be tortured to death.'
“Protestors claim that more than 3,500 people have been confirmed killed by Chinese Communist Party (CCP) police. 'The Communist regime is a criminal gang,' said Wu. 'But I hope he (Xi) follows his conscience to do something that a person, a human being, should do.'”
