On May 18th, 2012, the Xiangfang District Court in Harbin tried Falun Gong practitioners Xiao Kun, Xiao Yang, Zhang Shengguo, and Hou Yinghua. The four are among dozens of Falun Gong practitioners who were arrested on December 31st, 2011. Their attorneys filed not-guilty pleas in court for them. During the trial, the police fabricated evidence against them.
The Chinese Communist Party never treats Falun Gong practitioners according to the law. So-called trials are just a formality, and are a farce. The police often fabricate evidence and try to frame practitioners. However, the Falun Gong practitioners still explained the facts about Falun Gong to them and hoped they would choose a bright future instead of continuing to persecute Falun Gong.
The specific facts are as follows:
From the start, the police acted unlawfully. Without any search warrant, the police broke into practitioners' homes and ransacked them, then arrested the practitioners, with no arrest warrants.
As there were no other witnesses such as personnel from the neighbourhood committee, the police made random lists of the property they took away. They also fabricated evidence and attempted to force Mr. Xiao Kun and Mr. Xiao Yang to press their fingerprints onto these “evidence documents.” When Xiao Kun and Xiao Yang refused to do so, the police threatened the two practitioners and then forcibly took their fingerprints. On the lists, even the dates did not match.
Mr. Zhang Shengguo said he was interrogated nine times. The police took out several pieces of blank paper which they demanded he sign. With his signature on a blank sheet of paper, the police could write anything. Mr. Zhang refused to sign but the police forced him.
All attorneys whom the four Falun Gong practitioners hired submitted not-guilty pleas for them in court. They challenged the so-called evidence the prosecutors fabricated with strong reason and facts and expressed the hope that the judge could respect the truth. At this time, no verdict has come down.
