Ms. Li Xiurong from Jiamusi, Heilongjiang Province was sentenced to three years in prison in 2010. She has been detained in the Harbin Women's Prison in Heilongjiang Province. On August 13th, 2012, Ms. Li's family visited her and found her to be very thin. She also felt discomfort in her heart, had difficulty in breathing and had pain in her breast. In addition, she had blurred vision and impaired hearing. Grey hairs appeared in her black hair.

The prison reportedly carried out an intensive “transformation effort” [forcibly renounce Falun Gong] on Ms. Li Xiurong between November 27th and December 4th, 2011, which caused the problem with her heart. On July 7th, 2012, the 610 Office (an organisation of special agents just for persecuting Falun Gong) began another round of “transformation” on Ms. Li Xiurong and other Falun Gong practitioners. They brutally tortured Ms. Li. The exact details are unknown.

Ms. Li Xiurong, 46 years old, was formerly a barber. She started to practise Falun Gong in 1997. She suffered from a nervous breakdown, cholecystitis and other stubborn diseases and often felt dizzy before she practised Falun Gong. She had intravenous infusions and took acupuncture treatments. Her illnesses were not cured although she spent a lot of money. However, just a few days after she started to practise Falun Gong, she got relief from her illnesses. Three months later, all of her illnesses disappeared. Through studying the Falun Gong teachings, Ms. Li learned how to be a good person. She gave up her bad temper and became genial. She whole-heartedly attended to her mother-in-law, who was paralysed in bed.

On July 19th, 2010, Ms. Li Xiurong and Ms. Wang Lixin went to deliver Falun Gong materials to some of their friends. However, they were reported to police and taken away by officers from the Changqing Police Station. They were detained in the Jiamusi Detention Centre.

The Jiaoqu Court held a session against Ms. Li Xiurong and Ms. Wang Lixin on October 18th, 2010. Five days later, the sentence was handed down. Ms. Li was sentenced to three years in prison and Ms. Wang Lixin was sentenced to three and a half years. The two practitioners submitted an appeal to the Jiamusi Intermediate Court. Song Peixi, the head judge, made the decision upholding the original sentence.

Ms. Li Xiurong is being detained and tortured at the Heilongjiang Women's Prison. Her family is very worried about her health.
