A Public Letter to the Hong Kong Government from All European Falun Gong Practitioners Regarding the Verdict by the Local Court in Hong Kong

The Hong Kong government, ignoring the sincere advice from all over the world and succumbing to President Jiang’s influence, has traded off democratic freedom and human rights, and forfeited the good conscience and the future of the Hong Kong people. With such dealing, what awaits Hong Kong? The present situation of China is what Hong Kong may be like in the future.

Millions of Falun Gong practitioners, in order to wake up the remaining kindness in people’s hearts and uphold the principles of Truthfulness, Compassion and Forbearance, have given up their lives, happiness and freedom. For the past three years, they have endured the most evil, vicious and brutal persecution in human history. What government would treat its own citizens in such a way? By bowing to such a government (China), as demonstrated by Hong Kong authorities’ recent action, the so-called “ Fifty Years Unchanged ” policy has already become a lie, and the promise of “One country, Two systems “ has already become “ One system”.

Precisely because the Falun Gong practitioners in Hong Kong could not bear to see their fellow practitioners in China undergo such cruel persecution, they had been sitting outside the Chinese Liaison Office and appealing peacefully to the Chinese government over the past three years, hoping their voices could be heard and the persecution could be stopped, and the freedom to practice the principle of Truth- Benevolence- Forbearance restored. Falun Gong practitioners from as far as Switzerland and New Zealand had been refused entry into China; therefore they had no choice but to peacefully appeal to the Chinese government on the last land of China (Hong Kong) where the practice of Falun Gong is still permitted. They called upon the Chinese government: Stop the Persecution, Stop the Killing.

These acts of great compassion and tolerance, however, were violently disrupted by the Hong Kong police. Moreover, the Falun Gong practitioners were falsely accused of “ obstruction ” and “ assaulting police ”. On the 15th, the residing magistrate reached the verdict and the sixteen Falun Gong practitioners, who had only meditated and peacefully appealed to the government, were charged on seven accounts. It was clearly noted that the statements by the nineteen police “ witnesses” were all accepted while the evidence produced by the defence was totally denied. This obvious violation of the justice and human rights should really make all the people in Hong Kong concerned. Falun Gong today, who tomorrow?

One reaps what one sows, and the heavens watch over everything. Presently, natural disasters and man-made calamities abound in China, and everywhere, the policemen and government officials who had persecuted Falun Gong are receiving due retributions. The Hong Kong government officials, the judges and the policemen should really think for themselves about their own future and that of the Hong Kong people. Succumbing to the evil and betraying one’s own conscience is already a crime, persecuting the Buddha Fa and the cultivators is an even more enormous crime.

We hope these people can consider about the image and the future of Hong Kong, make up for the wrong verdict, and restore the freedom, democracy, and justice on this territory again.
