My Thoughts on “Falun Gong.”

Having experienced a lot, I reflected a lot over the three words of “Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance.” I wonder why so many people still practice Falun Gong after the three-year crackdown, why so many people take risks, even the risk of losing their lives, to say; “Falun Dafa is good,” and why Westerners called us to say in their poor Chinese, “I want to tell you that Falun Dafa is good.” Why does Falun Gong appeal to so many people? Why have citizens in foreign countries been ceaselessly voicing their support for Falun Gong, while China is blocking its citizens’ access to the truth on Falun Gong. Why did China ruin Falun Gong books and materials? If Falun Gong were really so bad, weren’t its books and materials the best evidence of its guilt? To ruin books and materials is to ruin the evidence, isn’t it? On reflection it seems to me that this is not so simple an event.

Reflecting over the various campaigns in the history of China, I can not help but feel that the crackdown on Falun Gong is quite different from any other campaign. Under the powerful mechanism of dictatorship, all the other campaigners and activists have disappeared, but not the practitioners of Falun Gong. Faced with the powerful state-run propaganda machine and overwhelming slanderous attacks, Falun Gong adherents from young children to eighty-year-old seniors run the risk of death to ask justice for Falun Gong in a dignified and honorable way. Their behavior has earned people’s admiration. What kind of power can encourage those practitioners?

The answer - Meditating on the three words of “Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance,” I feel that “Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance” is the source of courage and power. The three words include every component of a human life. A person who looks for “Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance” must be a perfect being that can adapt to any environment. This kind of being with dignity, compassion, and a sense of justice is needed in every environment. Being unyielding, but peaceful, this kind of being can change the circumstances around him, melt the accumulated hatred between people, resolve arguments, and rid the world of displeasure. The three words of “Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance” contain the beauty that humans have been searching for.

Ancient Chinese history and culture have turned people smart and cunning. People worry about their personal gains and losses. Particularly those who have experienced different campaigns and movements will not easily believe in any theory or concept. They tend to look on and bear an attitude of self-defense. However, the spread of Falun Gong has made people think. They feel that “Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance” cannot be denied by anyone. If there were no “Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance” in our lives, the outcome would be terrible; the human world would be filled with hatred, jealousy, rumors, violence and killing.

Viewed in this way, “Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance” is the fundamental principle to sustain the human society as well as the primordial and most precious characteristic of human life. From this viewpoint, we know that the endless power of Falun Gong originates from human awakening and quest for returning to the beauty of life. Without involvement in politics nor any personal purpose, this kind of awakening and quest is the only explanation for the behavior of Falun Gong practitioners. As an ancient Chinese saying, “Patience and tolerance forges a great person, and unselfishness arms one against the evil.”

On one hand, there is the national mechanism of dictatorship, firing out slanderous attacks and enforcing torture. Presented is the picture of bitter war. On the other hand, there is generous tolerance, courage and firmness, just like the fall harvest, plain but abundant.

Apparently the victory will belong to Falun Gong because “Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance” awakens the remaining conscience of human nature. In consequence, people with their aroused conscience will surely have more to gain from life. This is the awakening of all humans. Their tremendous changes, which come from inside, will never be held back by any external force. The crackdown on “Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance” will surely be smashed by the powerful righteousness of humankind. I am looking forward to the coming of that day.
