A View into the Persecution of Dafa Practitioners

“I am walking slowly inside the cell where my body is imprisoned, but my mind is flying freely... Dear kind souls, to feel no regret is my best wishes for you.” These were my remarks at a labour camp gathering to bid farewell to a Dafa practitioners who was going to be released.

We were the ones who were incapable of being brainwashed in the eyes of the evil police. At that time, Miss Wu Ling Xia was persecuted to such an extent that she had a swollen belly and swollen legs. It was hard for her to bend over. She could only digest a very small amount of food at each meal. Half a month later, she was taken to a hospital to be examined. She was found in a critical condition with serious accumulation of water in her belly and liver. The next day, she was hospitalised, so as the labour camp could shrink responsibility for her death. On the eve of her departure, the labour camp held a farewell party for her. Other practitioners used this opportunity to express their own feelings. After one fellow practitioner sang the song, “A Genuine Hero,” Miss Wu bade us farewell. Later, Wu Ling Xia passed away in her home. Jiang’s evil political gang of scoundrels had owed another blood debt.

At the end of August, it was arranged for another practitioner to share a cell with me. She told me a story about how, before her cultivation, she lived a very painful life. From her childhood, she had been constantly sick. Her mom took her to various hospitals, but could not have her cured. Through Dafa, her physical health had improved greatly; she had never been so healthy before. She was well-educated and talented, beautiful and noble, elegant and determined.

After the crackdown on Falun Gong, she had been to Beijing to appeal several times and also attended experiences sharing conferences in various places to discuss her experiences and understandings with other practitioners. By exchanging views with her, I came to realise why fellow practitioners have made protests using hunger strikes; because they should not have been detained. We were innocent and so could not admit what had been imposed on us.

In the early September, I was transferred from “the reeducation team” to “the seventh team,” where there were eight determined Dafa practitioners watched by four criminals. Mu Chen Qiuan, the director of police, was extremely evil. He tried every possible means to persecute Dafa practitioners. Here I would like to tell you the stories of some fellow practitioners.

Sister Shiang Chung Ying

First, I would like to give you a brief introduction of Sister Shiang Chung Ying. At the age of 60, her skin was fair and rosy. So much so that it hard to believe that she was 60! She was unlawfully sentenced to one year of labour education. Before her cultivation, she had suffered from tracheitis. After beginning her cultivation in Dafa, she recovered from her illness and regain a healthy life. To tell the government the magnificent effects and advantages of Falun Gong, and to call on the government to distinguish right from wrong, she went to Beijing to appeal. Not sure if she could come home safely, her husband had been so worried about her that he became paralyzed, and could only lie in bed. When her friends and relatives paid her a visit and told her about the poor condition of her husband, the evil police verbally insulted her. The words from their mouths darkened the national emblem on their caps, the badges on their shoulders as well as their shields. They were not the protectors of the people, but the slaves of a dictator. However, Sister Shiang calmly told her friends and relatives, “If Dafa hadn’t saved my life, I couldn’t have been to Beijing and sent to the labour camp. I could have departed from the human world a long time ago and we would not be able to see each other now.” Listening to her words, all her relatives and friends were in tears. Nevertheless, at her old age she was imprisoned, subjected to physical and spiritual torture just for uttering a few words of justice.

Once when working in the camp, Sister Shiang and several other practitioners were asked to sit on the ground. With her legs crossed, an evil policeman called Li Yong Bo pushed Sister Shiang down to the ground. Seeing this, one practitioner, Fu Mai Ling, condemned the evil policeman. Being outraged, Li started yelling. But Sister Shiang felt no hatred. In October, her unlawful detention should have come to an end. Instead, the police summoned her to go outside with them, since this time she has not come back. We have inquired about her whereabouts, but the police just shout at us. If Sister Shiang had been released from the labour camp, why did the police keep it as a secret?

There was another questionable point; Sister Shiang was illiterate, unable to write. She had never uttered one word against Dafa. Nor had she written any word after being unlawfully detained in the labour camp. Her only response to the evil people who tried to interfere with her righteous belief in Dafa was, “Your mouth grows on your head, mine on my head. What you said is your business. What I said is my business.” None could shatter her firm righteous belief in Dafa. What appeared most strange was that no-one ever saw a document signed by her to renounce Dafa or a guarantee not to practice again. This was a dirty trick played by the Chinese Communist Party and these so-called law enforcers.

Sister Xie

Sister Xie, at the age of 56, was unlawfully sentenced to one year of labour education. Being lied to and brainwashed, she felt was regretful for her actions. Through painful reflection, she realised the truth. Though ten days later she was to be released from the labour camp, she did not wait to write a solemn declaration [a statement declaring that everything done or said against Dafa under coercion is null and void] until her safe arrival at home. On the contrary, she expressed her determination to continue her cultivation and immediately declared that her words and deeds under forced brainwashing were null and void. As far as she was concerned, she would stand up again after falling down and would try to compensate for what she had sone or said. She would not lie to others or herself. However, the evil police continued to persecute her. Despite the evil persecution, Sister Xie walked her path with determination. When forced to attend a brainwashing class, several times she unhesitatingly condemned the evil people for their actions and words.

Sister An Bau Zeng

At the end of September, more practitioners were illegally detained in the “reeducation team” at the labour camp, and some of them were transferred to the seventh team. Among them was one practitioner called An Bau Zeng. She was supposed to sleep on the bed opposite to mine. Though she had been brainwashed, she was willing to get close to Falun Gong practitioners. On the next morning, she asked me to help her fold the quilt. When I walked to her side, she whispered, “Is it right to renounce Dafa and guarantee not to practice again?” I told her, “If it were right, we would greet each other by saying ‘You evil’ instead of ‘You good’” [direct translation of “Ni Hao” – Hello in Chinese]. The police pulled her away when they saw her talking to me. After breakfast, she was sent back to “reeducation team” to be brainwashing again. An Bau Zeng intended to close to Dafa practitioners. With her mind getting stronger and stronger, deceitful lies could not fool her again. Soon, she came back to the seventh team, her mind was fully awaken. She declared with firmness, “All my words and deeds under forced brainwashing are null and void.” Though her declaration had been torn down several times and she had suffered from escalating persecution, she took her path of cultivation with bravery. We were touched to tears by her firm belief in Dafa.

I will never forget the date of September 30 when two of my fellow practitioners, An Bau Zeng and Pan Yu Xiang made their solemn declarations.

Sister Liu Yan

Two days before the Moon Festival and National Day (1 October), Miss Zhang asked Liu Yan to help her fold the quilt. Seeing this, the evil policeman scolded Liu and pushed her away. Zhang had already compromised herself, but she refused to inflict any persecution on others and thus the evil police were still unsure about her. When lining up for breakfast Dafa practitioner, Liu Yan, was summoned to the office of Mu Chen Qiuan, the director of the police. Mu pinched Liu’s face, punching her on the chest, beating her all the way from the office door to the window. Slanderous words came out from Mu’s mouth one after another. Later Mu even threatened to extend her labour education, saying there were all evil methods to treat her.

As it turned out, the evil police blamed Liu Yan for An Bau Zeng and Pan Yu Xiang seeing through their lies. Liu Yan said calmly to the policeman, “You gave the credit to me. On the contrary, every practitioner is walking their own path of cultivation. This is their wise choice, and I send my best wished to them. I also hope that you can stop aiding a tyrant and choose a bright future for yourself.” Her remarks were used as an excuse and used to charge and persecute her further. Liu Yan had written poems for former practitioners who went on the wrong track and were about to be released from the labour camp, in a hope of their seeing through the lies. She said, “You are about to leave. I would like to send you a poem and a song.” The following is one of the poems.

Path

The boat of life sets off accompanied by our own crying,
And pulls in shore with others’ tears.
The in-between process is the course of our life boat.
We are lucky enough to be guided along the course toward the shore of happiness.
While on this island, why did some boats run aground, sink,
Or turn back to the port they departed from?
I had diligently searched for,
Questioned the age-old wise men about life.
Of Confucius, Chiu Yuan, high mountains I had inquired.
One day I found the Fa-boat to return to my primordial home.
In your search for the way to return back, don’t miss the opportunity.
Come to join me hand in hand heading for the splendor of the sunrise,
Only if we go through the darkness before the arriving of dawn.

There was another poem for Wang May. Being a kindergarten teacher, Wang May taught kids to follow the principle of “Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance.” She informed the kids that the self-immolation incident in Tienanmen Square was a sham. But she was reported by a parent blinded from the truth. Wang May was unlawfully sentenced to three years of labour education. The evil police kept telling her that her sentence was only one year of labour education. Wang May believed the deceitful lies of the evil police and thus accepted their lies. But her innocence remained. In one brainwashing class, one person asked her of the self-immolation event. That person thought that Wang May would give a deceitful answer. On the contrary, Wany May told of the truth behind the self-immolation event. Being embarrassed, the brainwashing class was brought a quick end to.

Two days before the October 1st National Day, Liu Yan told Wang May, “Just because we love our country, many practitioners went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong, to clarify the truth to the government. Just because we love our country, we would not do anything against our conscience to deceive others and ourselves. Because of our love for millions of mothers who are like ours and because of our love for millions of children who are like ours, we uphold the principle of “Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance. We can not leave a world of falsehood and violence to our beloved mothers and children.” The following was another poem by Liu Yan.

Looking Forward to Sailing Back Home.
Looking into your bewildered eyes, how can I help you?
Sincerely hope that you can sail back home.
Entangled in the secular world of love and hatred, gratitude and resentment,
How can we call this our home?
Compassionate salvation is guiding us to sail back home.
Come back! My former fellow practitioners, come back!
Let us be bathed in the sunshine of Fa-rectification.
