Ms. Liu Xiuqing has been repeatedly persecuted as a Falun Gong practitioner. On June 24th, 2008, Ms. Liu Xiuqing was arrested in connection with the Olympic Torch Relay. She is currently being detained at the Mining Area Detention Centre. Ms. Liu is just one of many practitioners arrested in the run up to the Olympics. Several workplaces are complicit in her arrest including the Chemical Industry Factory of Datong Mining Bureau and the Datong Mining Bureau. The Heping Street Police Substation, and the 610 Office also took part.

The police station is executing a secret order from "higher" branches. Using "protecting the Olympics" as an excuse, they recently began to madly arrest Falun Gong practitioners. Up to July 2nd, 2008, at least 16 practitioners have been arrested. On May 30th, 2008, police went to practitioner Ms. Zhang Chunping's home and searched her home. Later they went to the pharmacy Ms. Zhang works at and arrested her. They also seized a computer, a printer and 2,200 from the pharmacy. Ms. Zhang's husband does not practise Falun Gong, but was also harassed by State Security.

Ms. Chen Yumei's body was cremated on July 6th, 2008. She was arrested on the evening of July 3rd, 2008, and brutally beaten by officers from Chang'an Police Station in Dadong District, Shenyang City, Liaoning Province until she passed out. Ms. Chen was taken to hospital. The doctor found severe bleeding in her skull. Her family saw that her arms and legs were covered with bruises, and her body had severe scratches as a result of being dragged on the ground. The doctors said that the marks were caused by being beaten or dragged. She died on the evening of July 4th, 2008, at age 48.

Police officers arrested Ms. Zhu Shuyun, 47, on May 9th, 2007, as she was walking along a road. At the police station they interrogated her. They held her hair and smacked her head against a wall and then slapped her face until she lost consciousness. The ruthless beating bloodied her mouth, spattering the wall, the floor, her clothes, and her face, and a big clump of her hair was pulled out. They handcuffed her behind her back. She was then forced to lie on her stomach on the floor and placed between the legs of a computer chair. One police officer sat on the chair and stepped on her back. Then they removed her shoes and again beat her.

On May 4th, 2008, police officers ransacked two Falun Gong centres producing Falun Gong leaflets exposing the persecution in Pingdu City, Shandong Province. Practitioners Ms. Xu Aifang, Mr. Wang Yunchong and Mr. Zhong Zhenfu were arrested. That same night, the police forced each of these practitioners to sit on an "iron chair" and interrogated them. Since the practitioners refused to cooperate with the police, the officers poured boiling water over their necks and bodies. Three days later, the practitioners were taken to Pingdu City Prison. At the prison, the guards put shackles on Mr. Zhong Zhenfu and whipped him in the head with metal wires. His life was in danger after the torture.

Practitioner Mr. Zhu Zhiyong, 29, has been arrested, detained and persecuted on four occasions by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) police. Everyone in his village said that he was the kindest boy. In June 2008 he was locked up in the Lulong County Detention Centre. After June 4th, 2008, police entered and ransacked Mr. Zhu Zhiyong's house four times. They took away a television, printer and other personal property. The house was turned upside down and left in a big mess. Even the bedding was torn up when they searched for evidence that he practised Falun Gong. They dug out the ashes in the stove trying to find something that could have been hidden underneath. Mr. Zhu's personal belongings were strewn everywhere on the ground. It was hard to even open the door.

Using the excuse of preparing for the Olympics, the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) Committee in Lanxi City, Zhejiang Province used a large amount of money to hold a brainwashing session in Shiliping Farm, Jinhua City during June. Police officers arrested seven Falun Gong practitioners from Lanxi City and sent them to this session. The Lanxi City CCP Deputy Secretary together with the city's 610 Office and police force, extorted 210,000 yuan to hold this brainwashing session. Each practitioner's employer had to pay 5,000 yuan, plus assign two employees to closely monitor the practitioner.

On April 17th, 2008, police officers arrested me at home. I shouted, "Falun Gong is good!" to let people hear the truth. Afraid of drawing attention to the unjust arrest, those evildoers took off a coat and used it to cover my mouth to stop my shouting. I almost lost consciousness. They took me to Beicheng Police Station where they subjected me to a body search. They searched my backpack and stole over 2,000 yuan in cash. They got a key from my bag and took it to search my home. They made a big mess while ransacking the house. That evening they took me to a detention centre. I staged a protest hunger strikeOn the sixth day they force-fed me. I suffered badly during each brutal force-feeding procedure.

Ms. Ma Duo, a 26-year-old practitioner, has been sentenced to three years in prison by the Jiamusi Suburban Court. Ms. Ma and her family have appealed the case. They hired lawyers from Beijing to defend Ms. Ma. When the lawyers and Ms. Ma's family went to the Jiamusi City Intermediate Court to process the paperwork for representing Ms. Ma, a dozen plain-clothes police officers took Ms. Ma's relatives into custody right in front of the lawyers. According to eyewitnesses, the police also took away three or four more people near a hospital outside the Jiamusi City Intermediate Court. A total of about eight of Ms. Ma Duo's family and friends have been taken into custody and held at the Jiamusi Detention Centre.

Ms. Gao Jie, 53, was a teacher at the Shuangzhan Elementary School in Chongqing City. She began to practise Falun Gong in 1993, and benefited from the practice physically and mentally. After July 20th, 1999 when the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) regime launched a campaign to eradicate Falun Gong, she has spent most of her time in prison. In June 20th, 2003, Ms. Gao was given a five-year sentence and served the term in Yongchuan Forced Labour Camp. Now, she has again been sent to a brainwashing centre located because she refuses to renounce her belief in Falun Gong.

Recently, police from the Chaoyang County Police Department and Liucheng Police Station teamed up to arrest Falun Gong practitioners. They went to a number of households to harass the practitioners and ransack their homes. Mr. Li Lin was arrested and taken to Liucheng Police Station, where they extorted 1,000 yuan from him before he was released. The personal property of practitioner Zhao Shujun was stolen. In order to avoid further persecution of themselves and their family members, some of the practitioners from Yaoeryingzi Village were forced to leave their homes.

Mr. Qi Tingsong, a Falun Gong practitioner, was arrested on October 15th, 2007, by Laiwu police. By November 11th he was dead as a result of torture. Mr. Qi Tingsong's family members appealed this injustice to the relevant departments for six months, but no one paid any attention to them. Mr. Qi's wife hired a lawyer who insisted on seeking justice. Laiwu Police Department were in the wrong and had no recourse, so they had to comply with the lawyer's mediation to compensate Mr. Qi Tingsong's wife.

Mr. Zhao Jianguo was arrested and interrogated under brutal torture by police from the National Security Agency in Mudanjiang City. The police took him to the office of the City's National Security Agency. They took turns interrogating him and would not allow him to sleep for several days. During those interrogations, police officer Guo Liangyi kicked several of Mr. Zhao's teeth out. Peng Fuming, the team leader from the National Security Agency, tortured Mr. Zhao twice with ropes. Qiao Ping used the bottom of a shoe to slap Zhao's face, and he also threatened to send him to the forced labour camp.

In 2000, Liu Xiaozhao was taken to Laiwu Detention Centre by police. In order to resist the persecution and prove that belief in Falun Gong is not a crime, he went on a hunger strike for about eight or nine days without food and water. He became skin and bones. When he returned home, his wife had gone back to her parents because she could no longer bear the hardship. Liu Xiaozhao thought to himself how his wife and child were implicated because of him and didn't enjoy any of the good things in life with him. No one cared if they got food to eat or not under the dictatorship of the CCP, people were not allowed to practice qigong in order to gain a healthy body. What would be the end of this kind of life? Liu Xiaozhao had never been good at expressing himself since he was young and always kept his thoughts to himself. But no one imagined that he would choose death to end the suffering.

Ms. Gao Ruixia began practising Falun Gong in 1998. She studied the teachings of Falun Gong and did the exercises every day. She lived a fulfilling life, experienced great improvements spiritually, and all her diseases went away. But after the persecution began on July 20th, 1999, her happy life turned to one of countless harassments. Police went to Ms. Gao's home to harass and closely monitor her. They deprived her of a peaceful practice environment. Gradually, Ms. Gao's health deteriorated and her sickness recurred. The police did not stop harassing her even when she was in critical condition, until the day of her death on October 17th, 2007.

On July 6th, 2008, officers from the Domestic Security 610 Office in Zunhua City, and more than ten officers from the Dongjiusai Township Police Station broke into practitioner Mr. Zhao Jingjun's house in Qihu Village. They ransacked his home and arrested him. Mr. Zhao Jingjun has now been arrested by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) for the fourth time. In addition to his arrest, the police kicked his three-year-old son and sprayed mace into the faces of his ten-year-old son, Yangyang, and his 60-year-old mother. The chemical was very irritating to their eyes, causing redness and pain.

On the morning of July 4th, 2008, officers from Chang'an Police Station in Dadong District, Shenyang City tried to arrest Ms. Chen Yumei, 48, on Pangjiang Street near Ms. Chen's neighbourhood. They brutally beat and kicked her. Many bystanders witnessed the brutality, and saw that Ms. Chen passed out from the beating. At around 9 a.m. on the same morning, a police vehicle arrived at Ms. Chen's home, and her family was asked to identify her in an ambulance. She died at around 8:30 p.m. on July 4th.

Most practitioners who are imprisoned in the Heizhuizi Women's Forced Labour Camp, Changchun City, Jilin Province are over 50. Besides using torture to coerce the practitioners to "transform", guards in the Fifth Section force the practitioners to work long hours, carrying 55 lb. boxes up and down the stairs. The guards often threaten to extend the prison sentence of the practitioners. Scorning, electric baton shocks, and beatings happen frequently in the Fifth Section. Guard Zhang Lihong, (female) actively follows director Wang Limei (female) to torture the practitioners and has no remorse.

Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Meng Xianjie is being detained at the Jiamushi Railway Police Station. His sister, Meng Xianying went with a friend to thew police station to ask about him, but the police tried to arrest her too. While resisting the arrest her back was sprained and she lost consciousness. The police took her to the Railway Hospital and left quickly to avoid responsibility. With help from some kind hearted people, Meng Xianying was able to return home after the injury.

As the opening of the Olympics approaches, the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) becomes more and more frantic. The 610 Office of Haicheng City and the police stations have held several meetings to accelerate the persecution of Falun Gong. Large-scale arrests of people with spiritual beliefs, cultural dissidents, and people who visit appeals offices is taking place, and the persecution against Falun Gong practitioners has severely intensified. Holding the Olympics in China is supposed to be a good thing, however the CCP is persecuting and killing Chinese people in the name of the Olympics, turning a supposedly peaceful Olympics into another excuse to commit violence.

Ms. Xu Jiayu is a Chinese language teacher. She was tortured many times for practising Falun Gong. Currently Xu Jiayu is being detained in the Women's Prison in Heilongjiang Province. On the night of April 19th, 2002, Xu Jiayu was arrested by police. She was beaten with a rolling pin, and then her feet were pinned under the rolling pin, with two people standing on it. She was also handcuffed and not allowed to sleep. On April 21st, Xu Jiayu was taken to a secret room and put on a metal chair. They put a motorcycle helmet on her head, handcuffed her hands behind her back, and struck her repeatedly in the face with rolled up magazines. In the afternoon, she was detained in the toilet and tied to the urinal. She was drenched with pressurized water and hung up by the handcuffs behind her back.

On the evening of May 26th, 2008, a group of policemen from the Domestic Security Division in Wuhan City barged into the residence of Ms. Gu Yuelian. They were using the excuse of "cleaning up" for the Olympics Torch Relay as the reason to arrest her, but Ms. Gu managed to find a chance to escape and got away. Because they could not catch Ms. Gu, the police waited in ambush on the stairway of the dormitory of the No. 3 Postal Company on May 28th. That night around 10:20 p.m., they arrested her daughter, Ms. Qiu Xueming, in order to hold her as a hostage.

Three Falun Gong practitioners were arrested on June 22nd and 27th, 2008 by officers from the Yali Town Police Station in Wei County, Hebei Province. The police broke into the homes of two women from Pu Village, Ms. Zhao Qingshe, aged 52 and Ms. Li Xiujun, aged 60. They also invaded the home of Ms. Rong Yunqing, a 44 year-old farmer from Yabei Village in Yali Town. The police beat these three practitioners prior to the arrests, and they are currently detained at the Wei County Detention Centre.

Mr. Xin Baodong and Ms. Gao Shuying are husband and wife. Around 10 a.m. on June 27th, 2008, officers from Sanhe City Domestic Security Division and Juyang Town Police Station in Hebei Province broke into the couple's house. The police took them away and ransacked their house that afternoon. The police took some of the couple's private property, including a computer, printer, satellite receiver, television, and bank deposit book. Mr. Xin is being held in the Sanhe City Detention Centre, while Ms. Gao Shuying is in Langfang Brainwashing Centre. Their two children, who are both in school, now have to fend for themselves.

My name is Lin Hong, and I am 50 years old. I am from Lianjiang City, Guangdong Province. I previously worked at the Lianjiang Water Supply Company. I started practising Falun Gong in Haikou City on Hainan Island in May 1997. I have been practising for eleven years now. During the past nine years, I have been constantly harassed by the police. My home was searched, and I was arrested and sent to a forced labour camp. On September 29th, 2007, I was forced to leave home and live in destitution in order to avoid persecution. It's been nine months now. In June 2008, the officials of Lianjiang City went to my home looking for me, and they harassed my husband.

Officers from the police station in Muyudian Township, Laiyang City have a reputation for unreservedly extorting money from people. In the last few years they have made a fortune confiscating personal belongings from the families of Falun Gong practitioners. It is thought that the police have resorted to doing this because most people now know the truth about the goodness of Falun Gong, and are no longer willing to report practitioners to the authorities. The police have resorted to monitoring, following, harassing, and confiscating the property of practitioners. After arresting the practitioners, the family members are coerced into submitting at least 4000 yuan in fines, for which no receipts are provided. Otherwise the practitioners will be sent to forced labour camps.

Around May 10th, 2008, the Lianshan District Court sentenced two practitioners from Huludao City, Liaoning Province. Mr. Huang Lizhong was handed a nine-year prison term, and Mr. Zhao Liang was given a ten-year term. On May 10th both practitioners lodged an appeal with the Huludao Intermediate Court in an effort to overturn the court's decision. On June 12th, however, the court upheld the original verdict. On the afternoon of June 12th, Mr. Huang and Mr. Zhao's families visited the detention centre where the two were being held. What they saw really shocked them. Not only had Mr. Huang been badly tortured and the hair on his head shaved off, but he also looked very emaciated and spoke in a very weak voice. He was in such an awful state that his family hardly recognized him.

On June 25th, 2008, when Ms. Li Xiumin was visiting her in-laws, police arrested her and took her to the Sanchahe Detention Centre. In 2003, Ms. Li was sentenced to forced labour and taken to Heizuizi Women's Forced Labour Camp where she was tortured. Every day, Ms. Li was forced to write materials defaming Falun Gong. When she refused, she was punched and kicked. The camp guards beat her and shocked her with electric batons. When Ms. Li started a hunger strike to protest the severe persecution, the camp guards inserted a tube through her nose to force feed her, which caused her nose to bleed profusely. She was not able to work for two years after her release because she had been so badly injured both physically and mentally.

Practitioner Mr. Zhang Tao from Shuangcheng City, Heilongjiang Province was tortured to death by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) His daughter, Ms. Zhang Jianhui, was sentenced to prison for ten years and is currently being held in the Harbin City Women's Prison. His wife, Ms. Yao Caiwei, has been arrested many times, sentenced to forced labour camps twice, and longs for her husband and the return of her daughter. These experiences have caused her to show the symptoms of cerebral thrombosis.

The Huaihua City government, 610 Office, and other departments use the excuse of ensuring "safety" during the Olympics and the Olympic torch coming to Hunan Province in order to implement increased persecution of Falun Gong practitioners. Acts of persecution have included arrests, ransacking of homes and harassment in cities, counties, and villages. Around May 27th, 2008, dozens of practitioners were arrested and detained. Some are in the No. 2 Detention Centre in Huaihua City. Some are detained in brainwashing centres, and their families are not allowed to visit them.

The guards normally interrogate a practitioner during the day. After all the threats and manipulations fail, they tell the practitioner, "Let's see how we are going to fix you." They leave one or two people to watch the practitioner, depriving him of sleeping and not allowing him to close his eyes. At midnight, they return and restrain the practitioner in a special metal chair. The practitioner is handcuffed behind his back. His feet are tied by the ankles. He cannot move any part of his body. Three or four guards act simultaneously, grabbing the practitioner's hair, pushing his head backward, and quickly covering his mouth and nose with a mask saturated with mustard oil. Immediately, the victim's nose runs and his eyes water, his breathing becomes difficult, and he feels that he is going to suffocate. T

Ms. Zhang Xiucun is a Falun Gong practitioner living in Beishijiawu Township, Langfang City, Hebei Province. The Chinese Communist Party (CCP) persecuted her repeatedly for her strong belief in Falun Gong. In 2002, Ms. Zhang found some lost items and turned them into the police. Instead of praising her unselfish behaviour, the police detained her. She was arrested again in 2004 and sent to the Kaiping Forced Labour Camp in Tangshan City, where she spent one and a half years. In February 2006, Zhang Xiucun was arrested again for her efforts to expose the persecution. When she eventually returned home, she found that CCP Secretary Wang Hongfei from Beishijiawu Village had shut off the electricity to her home. The power outage has lasted more than two years so far.

On June 18th, 2008, seven or eight Chinese Communist Party (CCP) members from Salian Town, Miyi County, Sichuan Province, broke into and searched Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Zeng Pinglan's home. Ms. Zeng was a practitioner in her sixties, and she was sick in bed at the time of the break-in. The CCP members harassed her, which aggravated her illness. Ms. Zeng died three days later on June 21st, 2008.

At 4:00 a.m. on July 1st, 2008, all the policemen from the Bailong Township Police Station, from Mancheng County Police Department, and from Shenxing Town in Mancheng County set off in more than a dozen police cars. They went to Dakangxia Village in Bailong Township. It was estimated that there were at least 60 to 70 police officers involved. They split themselves into eight teams and carried out the arrests of eight Falun Gong practitioners simultaneously. They tried to arrest Ms. Liu Lan, a Falun Gong practitioner. A few powerfully built police officers dragged her from her bed. They grabbed her by her thighs and dragged her on the ground. Due to the resistance from Liu Lan's family members and the villagers who had gathered to watch, the attempted arrest was a failure.

Mr. Hu Heping, 55, is a practitioner from Yueyang City, Hunan Province. On March 18th, 2008, he was taken into police custody and later held at the Yueyang City No. 1 Detention Centre. At the time of his arrest, Mr. Hu had not been feeling well and was at home on medical leave. After he was taken into custody, he developed symptoms of serious illness. He had pain in his internal organs, he had blood in his urine, his legs swelled all the way to his toes, and he developed a chronic cough. His weight dropped from 126 pounds to less than 90. Despite his condition, labour camp officials forced him to perform 12 to 16 hours of labour each day. By June 7th, he was on the verge of death as a result of torture.

Ms. Lu Aicui, my uncle's wife, was a kind older woman who was known to have a big heart. But since 1999, when the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) started its persecution of Falun Gong, police always went to my uncle's home to harass them. They finally forced my uncle and his wife to write guarantee statements, saying that they would give up practising Falun Gong, and to hand in all their Falun Gong books. Ms. Lu's son has been subjected to torture since the CCP started persecuting Falun Gong. He has been taken into detention, fined, and even been under residential surveillance after being released. Because of the stress from all these hardships, Ms. Lu's old illnesses returned. Finally, because of her illnesses and all the stress, Lu Aicui passed away.

Mr. Li Shouwo, a 72-year-old Falun Gong practitioner, was a teacher at Pingshan Elementary School, Hebei Province. It was said that he was one of the most excellent role models in the whole county. Before 1999, Li Shouwo, wanting to have a healthy body and be a good person, began to practise Falun Gong. After the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) persecution of Falun Gong began, Mr. Li was detained many times without just cause. He was violently beaten and suffered brutal torture. He was almost tortured to death several times. The CCP has also extorted a total of 30,000 yuan from this elderly man.

At the end of December 2000, I went to Beijing to peacefully appeal for Falun Gong. I was arrested before reaching Tiananmen Square. As soon as I entered the door of a local police station, the police forcibly and thoroughly searched me. My escort took me to a small room, and another person immediately began beating me. He didn't stop until he became exhausted from hitting me. Later on, they forced me to stand up straight for a long time. The following day, Dai Wenyong, the Secretary of the local CCP, forced me to stand up in the middle of the courtyard. He asked me whether I would stop practising Falun Gong. I said that I would never stop. Then he slapped me in the face. He told me to take off my shoes and stand barefoot on the cold floor. He also ordered me to take off my sweaters so that I would freeze in the cold weather. I was forced to stand there for over three weeks.

This "school" unlawfully imprisons over one hundred Falun Gong practitioners. The guards here don't use standard torture instruments, but instead use more vicious means to cruelly persecute the prisoners. They use a variety of ways to mentally destroy practitioners, including preventing them from relaxing for a moment, keeping their minds in a highly tense state around the clock, and gradually turning them into the walking dead, who mechanically follow instructions given by inmates or collaborators [former practitioners who have turned against Falun Gong under brainwashing and torture. They are then made to assist in brainwashing and torturing practitioners.].

Practitioner Mr. Li Yunbiao of Beian City, Heilongjiang Province started practising Falun Gong in 1997. After the persecution began, he was arrested, jailed, and tortured by the police from the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) several times. Mr. Li had been subjected to inhuman treatment, and he was thin and weak. A doctor indicated that he had pleurisy, liver-water, and tuberculosis. His chest, down to his stomach, was swollen like a pot. When they extracted what was underneath, they found water-like pus. The doctor concluded, "He will not live long. Tell his family to get ready for his funeral." In 2005 he was sentenced to Beian Prison for an eight-year term. There has been no further news of his whereabouts since 2006.

Mr. Li Zhengling was sentenced to three years in a forced labour camp, where he was subjected to being locked in a small cell, forced overtime work, forced standing for long periods of time, hanging by handcuffs, brutal beatings, and shocks from electric batons. In 2005 Mr. Li was sentenced to five years in prison. In October 2007, when Mr. Li Zhengling's family went to Deyang Prison to visit him, they saw that he was disfigured, emaciated, and blind in both eyes, and he could not take care of himself. On June 24, 2008, police officers notified his family that Mr. Li had died in Shuangliu Police Hospital. His family does not know any details of his death.

Mr. Wu Xinming was twice detained in a forced labour camp for distributing leaflets exposing the persecution and telling people the facts about Falun Gong. The guards in Zaozihe Forced Labour Camp tied him up with rope. Mr. Wu went on hunger strike to protest the persecution, and the guards force-fed him with a highly concentrated salt solution, chilli powder water, and even laundry detergent. Mr. Wu still refused to give in. The guards tortured him by tying up his body, and then whipped him with wire, resulting in his whole body being covered with bruises. The camp authorities were afraid he would die there, and he was released. Mr. Wu Xinming died on June 26th, 2008.

In the autumn of 2003, four police officers led by the head of police - Zhao - broke into our home again, with no justification, and they took me and another two practitioners to Chifeng brainwashing centre. From 2003 to 2008, as a result of persecution, I had to move at least 10 times. To this day, I still cannot have a permanent residence. I have also suffered a lot financially. I can only support myself by doing hard labour, which provides very low pay. My family members also suffered as well. They lost contact with me. When my son got married, he could not find his father; my father-in-law passed away amidst missing his son and daughter-in-law, and his daughter-in-law (me) had no clue that her father-in-law passed away already, so she couldn't hold any ceremony for him.

On May 22nd, 2008, Falun Gong practitioners Ms. Wang Xuemei and Ms. Liu Zhiling were arrested by police. Ms. Wang and Ms. Liu were distributing leaflets exposing the persecution and telling people the facts about Falun Gong in a street market in Shimenzhai Town. After the arrests they were detained in the county detention centre. Fifteen days later, they were detained in a so-called "Law Education School" in Funing County, where they were forced to attend brainwashing sessions. During a visit to Ms. Wang a while ago, her family found visible marks of violent abuse on her neck. They are still investigating the specifics of her condition.

In September 2007, Ms. Ma Yong'an, 60, was arrested while distributing leaflets exposing the persecution and telling people the facts about Falun Gong in a supermarket, and was taken to the Sanshui Women's Labour Camp after being sentenced to one year of forced labour. One day in April 2008, she vomited up white bubbles after a meal. The Labour Camp doctor had a nurse collect three tubes of blood from her for testing. Guards brought her a bucket of water and wanted her to drink it. Ms. Ma passed out right after drinking the water. Several days later, one of the guards notified her family to pick her up. She died less then one month after returning home, on May 23rd, 2008.

On July 20th, the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) media suddenly started to defame Falun Gong, and the CCP forbade people to practise. Even though I heard slander everywhere, I knew in my heart that Falun Gong is good and wanted to continue my practice. I could not be scared away by the persecution. Later, some government leaders came to my home and tried to persuade my mother to write a statement renouncing Falun Gong. Many people came, and they talked until very late at night. Those leaders were acquaintances and friends of my parents, but in the persecution, they chose to execute the CCP's orders.

On April 9th, 2008, Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Jiang Yuhui, 35 years old, was arrested and taken to the Manchuria City Detention Centre by the police when she was working. She went on a hunger strike to protest the persecution. However, she was brutally force-fed. On May 4th, without any evidence, she was sentenced to two years of "re-education through forced labour" at the Tumuji Forced Labour Camp in inner Mongolia.

Mr. Zhao Guoliang was arrested by a group of police near his home on June 16th, 2008. At present, Zhao Guoliang is being detained at the Huanggu Detention Centre. On the night of June 16th, Zhao was beaten terribly in the Yamin Police Station. When Zhao shouted "Falun Gong is good", the policemen shoved him into a cage. The cage was encased by thick bubble wrap, with only a small hole in it for minimal ventilation. It was very hot while Zhao was detained in the small cage. The next day, Zhao was drenched in sweat, and the handcuffs had dug deeply into his flesh.

Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Wang Yuhuan, 52, along with several dozen local practitioners, were arrested by the police on May 9th, 2007. On the night of October 9th, a police officer called Ms. Wang's family and said, "Wang Yuhuan has vomited blood. The doctor failed to save her life after trying to resuscitate her. She is already dead." According to sources, the elderly Ms. Wang had died two weeks earlier, on September 24th.

Ms. Liang Wende was twice imprisoned and tortured in the Sichuan Women's Forced Labour Camp. On May 8th, 2008, the Longmatan District Court in Luzhou City, Sichuan Province sentenced Ms. Liang to four and a half years in prison. In October 2001, labour camp guards put her in a strict-management room on the top floor. She slept, ate, bathed, and went to the toilet all in the same room all day. She had to to sit still from morning until 8 p.m. without talking to anyone. Everyone in the room shared the same bucket of water and, as a result, diseases such as scabies spread to everyone. The room was always filled with a terrible odour and the smell of excrement and urine. Ms. Liang had scabies all over body, and she constantly felt unbearably itchy. Her buttocks festered with sores due to her sitting still in the same position at all times. This lasted for three months.

On the evening of June 20th, 2008, the Hefei City, Anhui Province local Chinese Communist Party (CCP) dispatched a large number of police officers to arrest nearly ten Falun Gong practitioners. Hefei police recently received orders from CCP officials to arrest practitioners and were given arrest quotas. At the same time, throughout Hefei, the regional community residential committees started visiting each dwelling asking for personal information about the registered inhabitants there. Some practitioners have been missing for nearly 2 weeks now, and it is still unknown whether they have been arrested. Furthermore, several practitioners have been forced into homelessness, unable to return to their residences. When Ms. Qiu Xiufen was arrested, the police repeatedly beat her on the head, causing fractures in her skull, and then forcibly took her away.

Ms. Gan Lirong from Shenzhen City has been persecuted for many years because of her belief. In November 2001 while she was posting Falun Gong leaflets exposing the persecution, the police arrested her. She was taken to Sanshui Forced Labour Camp. In the forced labour camp, the guards told inmates to cut her hair, put her in the prison uniform, and make her wear a prison badge. They spent her money on a used quilt and clothes for her, but paid themselves three times the going rate. Those in charge persecuted Falun Gong practitioners physically, mentally, and financially. They forced practitioners to watch videos slandering Falun Gong and instigated people who once were practitioners but who had gone against Falun Gong to brainwash and threaten her.

All hotels in Beijing, whether they be large or small, require a scan of their customers' ID cards at check-in. The scanned information is then entered into a database and forwarded electronically to the Beijing Public Security Branch. There, the customers' names are compared with the list of Falun Gong practitioners they have collected, and shared with other police departments, so that the practitioners staying in the hotels can be arrested. If the hotel accepts people who do not have ID cards, the police will levy a heavy fine on the hotel owner.

Since June 2008, under orders from Chinese Communist Party (CCP) officials and under the pretext of ensuring the "safety" of the Beijing Olympic Games, many more Falun Gong practitioners have been persecuted. Directed by the National Security Team of Gaobeidian Police Department and 610 Office staff members, police stations were ordered to arrest more than 20 Falun Gong practitioners and ransack their homes. More than ten practitioners are currently detained in a detention centre, and several practitioners were forced to become homeless to avoid further persecution.
