[Charles Taylor has been accused of gross human rights abuses and large-scale corruption. Similar to Taylor, Chinese Former Chairman Jiang and his regime have caused the deaths of at least 831 kind, innocent Falun Dafa practitioners, and have brought suffering upon tens of millions of families. At the same time, Jiang has misused his power for personal gain, and arranged for his son, of less than mediocre attributes, to become the Vice-Dean of the Chinese Science Academy. He also allowed his son to make huge money-power trades using State owned properties. The law will surely punish Jiang and his accomplices for their many corrupt activities and crimes of severe human rights violations.]
LYONS, France (AFP) - Interpol issued an international arrest warrant for Liberian former president Charles Taylor, now living in exile in Nigeria, following a request from a UN-backed court in Sierra Leone that has indicted the former warlord for war crimes.
The international police organization, based in Lyons, France, said in documents that detail the warrant, which it calls a "Red Notice," that the 55-year-old Taylor was wanted on charges of crimes against humanity and "grave breaches" of the Geneva Convention.
This Red Notice followed a request from a UN-backed court in Sierra Leone to extradite Taylor to a war crimes tribunal there, to face charges stemming from his support for the rebel Revolutionary United Front (RUF) during Liberia's 11-year civil war. The civil war raged from 1991 until January 2002, and claimed up to 200,000 lives.
He stepped down in August 2003 to accept an offer of exile in Nigeria, paving the way for a peaceful settlement between his supporters and rebels that had been very close to Liberia's capitol city, Monrovia.
Taylor has also been accused of gross human rights abuses and large-scale corruption during the civil war.
