On December 13, 2001, the Beijing Intermediate People's Court secretly put six practitioners on trial. These illegally prosecuted practitioners were Yao Yue, Wang Xuefei, Meng Jun, Wang Xin, Dong Yanhong, and Liu Wenyu. Their so-called "crimes" were spreading Dafa truth-clarifying materials via the Internet, helium balloons, and by hanging up Dafa banners. At the end of the trial, Yao Yue was illegally sentenced to 12 years in jail, Wang Xuefei 11 years, Meng Jun 10 years, Wang Xin 9 years, Dong Yanhong 5 years, and Liu Wenyu 3 years.

While in court, the six practitioners took every possible opportunity to expose the crimes of the wicked police by telling the people how they had been kidnapped and brutally beaten. They were all interrupted. With the pure benevolence of Dafa practitioners, they told everybody present about the greatness of Dafa, and that what they had done was to clarify the truth to people. They also sternly warned: “[…]history will declare the innocence of practitioners, while Jiang Zemin's political criminal regime that persecuted Dafa will be brought to trial.”

The following is a brief introduction to each of the six practitioners:

Yao Yue, female, 29 years old, a postgraduate student of the class of 1996 in the Microelectronics Institute, Qinghua University; a Party member and once awarded the title of "Excellent Graduate of Beijing City." On September 3, 1999, she was forcibly taken to the police station at Qinghua University because she openly practiced the exercises on campus, and was interrogated into the early hours of the next morning. She was later expelled from the Party and from the university. In the early morning of January 1, 2001, the criminal policemen from Zhong Guancun Police Station broke into her house and arrested her, then illegally detained her at the No.7 Division of the Beijing Police Department (a branch that specially deals with serious criminal cases).

Liu Wenyu, male, 29 years old, Yao Yue's husband, a postgraduate student of the class of 1997 in the Heat Energy Department, Qinghua University; once awarded the "Excellent Student Scholarship" of the university. In May 1999, he started his PhD degree ahead of time because of his remarkable achievements. From January 15 to 30, 2000, he was illegally held under house arrest at the No.200 Nuclear Testing Base and was forced to renounce his belief. In June 2000, he went to Tiananmen Square to peacefully appeal for Falun Gong, but was illegally detained for one month under charges of "suspected illegal gathering." Later, he was illegally forced to leave school by Qinghua University. In the early hours of January 1, 2001, the criminal policemen from Zhong Guancun Police Station broke into his house and arrested him, then illegally detained him at the No.7 Division of Beijing Police Department.

Wang Xuefei, male, a postgraduate student from Shanghai.

Meng Jun, male, 29 years old, an associate lecturer in the Electrical Engineering Department, Qinghua University; holds a master's degree from the Electronics Department. During September and October 1999, he was twice detained by the local police station and Beijing Police Department. Because he held firmly to his belief, he was forced to leave his job. In June 2000, he went to Tiananmen Square to peacefully appeal for Falun Gong, and was consequently detained. At midnight on December 31, 2000, he was arrested by policemen from Zhong Guancun Police Station while posting truth-clarifying materials. He suffered extremely cruel torture and was later illegally detained at the No.7 Division of Beijing Police Department.

Wang Xin, male, 25 years old, a PhD student of the class of 1999 in the Precision Instrument and Mechanics Department, Qinghua University. He was awarded "Excellent Cadre of the School," "Second Grade Excellent Student," "Haolaixi Schoolmate" and the "Xiyueyuying" Scholarship. He also used to be the vice-president of the department's Science Association. After he obtained his bachelor's degree, he was admitted as a PhD candidate straight away, being exempted from the Graduate Admission Examination. In October 1999, his schooling was forcibly suspended by Qinghua University and he was told that he "would not be allowed to return until he completely abandoned Falun Gong." In April 2001, he was arrested and illegally detained at the No.7 Division of Beijing Police Department.

Dong Yanhong, female, 30 years old with a bachelor's degree. She was once a winner of a national calligraphy contest. Because she held firmly to her belief, she was listed as a key target by the Neighborhood Committee of Southwest Building, Qinghua University. One day in January 2001, the neighborhood committee tricked her into going to the committee by saying that they wanted to have a chat with her. Since then, she was not allowed to come back.
