Outside the Singapore Embassy in Jakarta, Falun Gong practitioners call on Singapore not to help the CCP persecute Falun Gong |
At 11:30 a.m., Falun Gong practitioners unfurled a banner outside the embassy to express their protest, calling on Singapore not to help the CCP persecute Falun Gong. The Singapore government has recently taken a series of actions to persecute Falun Gong. The persecution stems from the visit of Li Lanqing, head of 610 Office [A Gestapo-like organisation specifically set up to persecute Falun Gong]. He came to Singapore to receive an honorary degree issued by the National University of Singapore. Since June, five Falun Gong practitioners have been forced to leave Singapore and go to other countries. At the same time, the authorities have intentionally brought charges against two Falun Gong practitioners. A total of eleven practitioners have been involved. The practitioners expressed that they have not violated any law in Singapore, so did not plead guilty.
Regarding the series of incidents, practitioners in Indonesia called on the Singapore government to be clear and rational, treat Falun Gong practitioners fairly, and not assist the CCP in persecuting Falun Gong.
During the protest, Falun Gong practitioners remained calm and peaceful. Reporters from several media outlets conducted interviews and took photos. Upon learning that the Singapore government succumbs to the CCP’s pressure, the reporter asked if the practitioners have met the officials of the Singapore Embassy or delivered the letter. The practitioners told the reporter that the Singapore Embassy did not accept their letter, using the excuse of "being busy."
