Falun Dafa practitioner Lai Xiuyun, who was a resident of Wutongqiao District, Leshan City, Sichuan Province, was forced to leave home when some people attempted to kidnap her in compliance with the persecution against Falun Gong on April 24th, 2006. She was later forced to return home due to the frequent threats to her family members posed by the police. She was severely persecuted mentally and physically, and died on August 30th, 2006.

Ms. Lai Xiuyun, 58 years old, had many diseases before practising Falun Dafa. After she started to learn Falun Dafa in 1997, all of her illnesses disappeared without treatment. She was arrested in 2000 by the police without any reason. Because she would not give up practising Falun Dafa, she was sent to a labour camp for two years. After being released and sent back home, she still persisted in studying the Falun Dafa books, practising the exercises and telling people the truth about Falun Gong. She was frequently harassed and threatened by local police. On April 24th, 2006, around 7:30 p.m., about seven or eight people lead by Du Gaoyin, who is with the Wutong National Security Bureau, and He Hongzhi, who is in charge of justice with the Wutong Government, attempted to break into Lai Xiuyun's home to arrest her.

Lai Xiuyun's house is on the fifth floor. She saw the police downstairs so she locked the iron door. They attempted to call the Wutong Fire Fighting Branch to break the window and arrest her from the top floor. Lai Xiuyun stood at the window and shouted, "Falun Dafa is Good." "These wicked police are trying to arrest good people." She pointed to Du Gaoyin, He Hongzhi and others and said, "You don't arrest bad people, you just arrest the good people who practise Zhen-Shan-Ren (Truth-Compassion-Tolerance). Falun Dafa is good. Falun Dafa is really good!"

On hearing her shouting, the neighbours all came out to rebuke the Communist party staff. Watching this situation, the police hastily got in their car and left, but they threatened that they would come to arrest her again.

Lai Xiuyun was forced to leave her home. She temporarily stayed at her relative's home. Her family is quite timid and the police took advantage of this. They called her family several times a day, and threatened them. To avoid more trouble for her family, Ms. Lai Xiuyun went home.

After she returned home, the police forced Lai Xiuyun to sign something. This made her feel strong regret and remorse. The police also forced her family to monitor her and to not let her outside the house. Ms. Lai Xiuyun became thinner day after day. Finally she became frighteningly thin and could no longer care of herself. She died after much suffering on August 30th, 2006.
