At midday on Chinese New Year’s Eve, February 17th 2007, Falun Gong practitioners from Helsinki displayed banners, photos and posters on the pavement in front of Helsinki train station to expose the Chinese Communist regime’s seven years of persecution against Falun Gong practitioners in China. They particularly wanted to raise the awareness about the Chinese regime’s atrocities of harvesting organs from living Falun Gong practitioners and selling them to transplant seekers. Petition signatures were collected from members of the public calling for an end to the CCP’s human rights abuses.

When practitioners were hanging up their banners, two men set up a tripod to take pictures of the activities. Afterwards, they also asked the practitioners for more information to give to other people. The week before when the practitioners launched another activity there to support eighteen million Chinese people withdrawing from the Chinese Communist Party and its affiliated organisations, these two men listened to the practitioners’ explanation of Falun Gang and the persecution. After hearing that the man had promised that they will help to let more people know about the persecution.
A young man asked a practitioner where the petition signature collection would be sent to. The practitioner replied that it would be submitted to the Finnish Ministry of Foreign Affairs or a human rights organisation. The man further asked: “Why didn’t the Finnish government respond to the persecution? I would like to help you by posting your messages on my own website.”
Another man said to a practitioner: “I know that Falun Gong has been oppressed in China. It’s really very cruel. You’ve done the right thing. You should let all the people around the world know about the atrocities and I’ll support you. As many countries give their top priority to economic interest, they simply keep silent in this regard. However, it is wrong to do so.”
A practitioner participating in the activities said: “The objective of holding this activity is to tell the world’s people that the atrocities perpetrated by the Chinese Communist regime are still going on at present. Despite death threats, practitioners in China still explain the facts of Falun Gong and the persecution to people, while their fellow practitioners in various countries around the world are doing the same thing. Their common objective is to raise awareness of the persecution against Falun Gong, so as to put an end to the atrocities as soon as possible.
