HELSINGIN SANOMAT (Finland): “Chinese Communist Regime Limits Hong Kong Citizens' Rights of Election”

On June 29th, 2007, Helsinki newspaper HELSINGIN SANOMAT carried an article entitled “Chinese Communist Regime Limits Hong Kong Citizens' Rights of Election.” The article included a photo of Hong Kong practitioners' information booth.

The caption for the photo is “Falun Gong spiritual movements banner 'The Chinese Communist Party is to be destroyed by Heaven.' Falun Gong is banned in China, however, it is allowed in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region.

The article wrote: Hong Kong is different from other Chinese cities. In Hong Kong, you can see foreign newspapers on the street; you can see young people petitioning in the parks and you can see Falun Gong banners downtown.

The article also emphasised: The CCP pays high attention to Hong Kong Finance and Economy. On one hand, it wants to please the Hong Kong public. On the other hand, it wants to limit their rights to free elections.
