In 2006, Falun Gong Practitioner Liu Yaqin was arrested while distributing leaflets exposing the persecution and telling people the facts about Falun Gong. The 610 Office1 sentenced her to a year and a half in a labour camp.

Due to complications following severe paraplegia from myelitis, she cannot take care of herself without some assistance and was rejected by the labour camp. Later, they forced her into a labour camp without a physical examination.

Before the persecution began, Liu Yaqin experienced many miracles in her physical condition through cultivating Falun Gong. Many witnessed these miraculous changes and agreed that it was amazing.

Before cultivating Falun Gong, Ms. Liu couldn't even walk. After practising, it is barely noticeable that she was once disabled. But after the Communist regime tortured her, her physical conditioned worsened. She is now incontinent. Whenever she needs to relieve herself, two people must help her. Even eating is problematic. Even while being persecuted in detention, she persisted in her belief.

Because she sang a song about Falun Gong called "Coming for You," her sentence was increased. She was also insulted and sworn at by some guards for singing the song, and then was transferred from a heated room to a room without heat. She could feel nothing below her chest, so her body suffered a lot of physical damage from the cold. She passed out because of this many times.

Ms. Liu's 70-year-old mother waited for her daughter on the main road whatever the weather. But her hope for her daughter's release gradually diminished. A month before Liu Yaqin was finally released, her grief-stricken mother passed away.

Note

1. "The 610 office" is an agency specifically created to persecute Falun Gong, with absolute power over each level of administration in the Party and all other political and judiciary systems.
